TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Apr. 27, 2026

Greetings!  Teflon Don: Trump’s political survival skills kicked into overdrive in the chaotic aftermath of a gunman’s attempt to storm the White House Correspondents’ Dinner in the Washington Hilton ballroom where the president was set speak Saturday night. Later in the evening, safely back at the White House, Trump held a press conference, looking gleeful and robust, a man who once again cheated death. His late night presser, against the wishes of his security team (per Trump), burnished his desired image as the invincible and masculine MAGA warrior. And after The Donald’s no good, very bad, horrible stretch of bad news recently, the week ended on best note imaginable for him. No one yesterday was talking about high gas prices and low approval ratings….Here’s the manifesto of alleged shooter Cole Tomas Allen that was published in the NY PostDept. of Bad Ideas: Trump is pressing for the White House Correspondents’ Dinner to be rescheduled in the next 30 days. Why give Trump a second chance to insult journos and the organizations they work for? The WHCA dodged a…uh….embarrassing situation when the night’s festivities were cut short before the president could turn his verbal firepower on the room before a live TV audience. In the aftermath of the mayhem, Trump boasted that it would  have been “the most inappropriate speech ever made.”  Memo to the WHCA: don’t reschedule. Instead, start planning next year’s event and put in place much better security…The editor of the left-leaning Daily Beast, Hugh Dougherty, had the room next to the suspected WHCD shooter at the Washington Hilton, and noted several security flaws. (Townhall)…Far right conspiracy shit slinger Alex Jones, doesn’t believe Saturday night’s WHCD shooting was staged. For once, I agree with Jones. (Infowars)…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting.
