TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Apr. 24, 2026

Greetings! Weekend Watch: Donald Trump headlines the annual White House Correspondents’ Dinner tomorrow night. Hundreds of journos and the bigwigs that sign their paychecks will be in attendance at the rubber chicken schmooze fest.  While past presidents usually appear, this is the first year in office that Trump will join in the festivities. The Daily Beast predicts that the portly POTUS will take nasty potshots at the press. If  he does deliver one of his unhinged  blistering rants, will journalists walk out or sit there and take the verbal beatdown? Stay tuned.  Watch live Saturday at 8 PM on either C-SPAN, CNN or NewsNation….The Washington Free Beacon claims The NY Times flubbed the  sales figures for Rep. Elise Stefanik’s new book Poisoned Ivies.  The Times ranks the take-down of elite, woke universities as #3 on its nonfiction best-sellers list.  However, the Free Beacon says “Poisoned Ivies” sold 20,186 copies between April 12-18, compared to the #1 Times best-selling nonfiction book, Lena Dunham’s “Famesick.” It sold 19,270, based on data from Bookscan, which would make “Poisoned Ivies” #1…Trump Interpreter Wanted: I read The Donald’s Truth Social rants every day and I usually get the point. However, this post baffles me: “The Southern Poverty Law Center, one of the greatest political scams in American History, has been charged with FRAUD. This is another Democrat Hoax, along with Act Blue, and many others. If it is true, the 2020 Presidential Election should be permanently wiped from the books and be of no further force or effect! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DJT.” The 2020 election reference makes no sense. Am I missing something?…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard
