TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Feb. 28, 2025

Greetings! Scott Jennings, CNN’s polarizing right-wing commentator, is one of the prominent names being floated as a possible successor to long-standing GOP Republican Senator Mitch McConnell, per RedState.  The outlet said the choice “would be sure to rev conservative engines”…Here’s the most obnoxious right wing headline of the day, courtesy of SteveGruber.com: “Trump will be checking on the gold at Fort Knox to see if the Democrats absconded with it”… In no uncertain terms, the conservative editorial page of the NY Post is urging RFK Jr. to go to the measles-stricken area of Texas to prove that the vaccine for the deadly disease is safe.  “Go to Texas, Mr. Secretary, and preach the truth as only a convert can,” the editors wrote. “This vaccine is safe, and getting children jabbed is an act of love”… It looks like Trump is romancing hockey great Wayne Gretsky for support, according to his Truth Social post last night.  After calling him a “great guy,” he suggested he could run for any office in Canada and win.  In the same post, he once again referred to Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as “Governor Trudeau.” Awful diss of a powerful ally…Weekend Watch: Out of habit, I’m going to say the Oscars, which will be broadcast or streamed or whatever live Sunday.  But I’m starting to feel that most people don’t give a hoot about the winners and losers.  The biggest drama for me will be whether some stars will deliver pro-woke or anti-Trump messages.
