Greetings! Today, I was going to publish my favorite Washington Post article of the week that has absolutely nothing to do with politics and showcased the talent and ingenuity of its beleaguered newsroom. (The Post’s restaurant critic surveyed the CIA’s upscale cafeteria.) But that was before yesterday’s announcement by billionaire owner (I’m starting to hate those two words) Jeff Bezos that the Post’s opinion pages will only publish articles in support of free markets and personal liberty, an obvious Trump-friendly pivot to the right. Margaret Sullivan, the news outlet’s former highly regarded media columnist, wrote in The Guardian that the decision essentially muzzles the section and represents a “death knell” for the brand. Hard to argue with her…Bill Maher for governor of California! So suggests NY Post opinion writer Steven Hayward who wrote, “He is a callback to an older, hardheaded, commonsense social democrat. And Maher wouldn’t be the first comedian propelled into high office at a stroke. There’s another TV comedian people have heard of who ascended into high office recently named Volodymyr Zelensky”…Wanna see what a Trump-run Gaza looks like? Here’s the big sales pitch: “Joining Townhall VIP will allow us to continue our mission to fearlessly dismantle the liberal media.
