TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Oct. 8, 2024

Greetings! If you missed last  night’s “60 Minutes” interview with Kamala Harris, you can watch it here…I suggest you also check out Harris’s controversial Sunday interview on the hugely popular “Call Her Daddy” podcast that was just posted  According to the NY Post, “Daddy”  is best known for “sex revelations.” Still, it’s a podcast that reaches tens of thousands of Gen Z and millennial women that Harris is smart to woo. She’s savvy enough to go on Howard Stern’s show too – he’s endorsed Harris – and put herself in front of an audience that has plenty of folks that went with MAGA-nation in 2020….The Free Press, the fast-growing right-leaning news outlet, gives a beat-down to CBS News for criticizing their anchor’s challenging September 30 interview with award-winning author Ta-Nehisi Coates.  CBS Morning co-anchor Tony Dokoupil peppered Coates with questions about  his new book “The Message,” which The Free Press called “a one-sided polemic against Israel.” For the way Dokoupil conducted the interview with Coates, CBS News said yesterday that it  did not meet company standards. That drew the ire of  The Free Press which charged that  CBS bowed to the pressures of an “elite consensus”…Donald Trump’s former hometown newspaper, The New York  Post, gets the tome-treatment in an oral history of the scrappy tabloid. The book drops today. Paper of Wreckage (great title, BTW) was penned by Page Six alums Frank DiGiacomo and Susan Mulcahy.  In other publishing  news, Melania Trump becomes a woman of letters with her memoir Melania (what else would you call it?).  It was blurbed by The Donald (natch!) who wrote with apparent zero self-awareness, “I wouldn’t be the man I am today without her by my side.”  And how many times have we seen them side-by-side during this 2024 White House run?…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting.
