TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Get ready for ads projected on the Washington Monument and other iconic structures in our nation’s capital. That’s just one of the alarming insights in the Washington Post’s epic takedown yesterday of Donald Trump’s shambolic rampage against D.C.’s architectural grandeur. Philip Kennicott, the Post’s Pulitzer-Prize-winning senior art & architecture critic, called the vulgarian POTUS “the  most significant threat to the city’s architectural and design legacy since British forces burned the Capitol and White House during the War of 1812”…. Trump must be running out of items to boost on Truth Social. Late yesterday morning, he posted a link to a story in The Gateway Pundit from January 6 (!).  The piece from the far-right extremist website reported that Lt. Michael Byrd, who shot and killed Ashli Babbitt as she stormed  the Capitol building during the J6 insurrection, runs a daycare center with his wife that receives federal funds. Beats me why The Donald flagged it on March 23. More disturbing that he’s legitimizing content from such a disreputable operation…Kudos to the latest episode of the Emmy Award-winning HBO Max  series “The Pitt” that contained a timely anti-ICE message. In the powerful episode, two ICE agents bring an injured and apparently undocumented immigrant in handcuffs into the ER, throwing staff and other patients into a frenzy.  Without drifting into left-wing polemic, “The Pit”  made it  impossible to ignore the masked brutality of  ICE agents and the dystopian fear they spread in the name of immigration control. The Huff Post has more…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard
