TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Jan. 14, 2026

Greetings! This past Sunday morning, TheRighting’s managing editor David Noonan, learned that ICE agents were roaming the streets of his hometown of Morristown, NJ, purportedly in search of undocumented immigrants.  His local digital news outlet, The Morristown Green, reported on the sweep that resulted in the detention of as many as ten people in the leafy suburb 35 miles west of Manhattan. Here’s Noonan’s reaction to the appearance of masked ICE agents patrolling the streets where he grew up (it was printed in the comments section under the article in The Morristown Green): When it comes to crime, I put my trust where I have always put it, in our local, county and state law enforcement agencies and court systems. They are the organizations and institutions that keep us safe and assure that all people, regardless of origin or background, are treated fairly and properly under the law. Our police officers wear name tags, not masks. Our trials are held in open court. It pains me to see armed and anonymous federal agents rampaging through the neighborhood where I grew up in alleged pursuit of “the worst of the worst,” and whisking them away to “detention centers.” They are doing the dirty work of an administration that is determined to divide our country by demonizing immigrants, conveniently ignoring the fact we are a country of immigrants, and always have been. That is our strength, and it always will be. Well said!….If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard
