TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Aug. 19, 2025

Greetings! FoxNews.com published an op-ed by DNC chairman Ken Martin who wrote that Americans are not better off since Trump took office in January.  Martin specifically cites Trump’s focus on golfing and a new White House ballroom as a reason for Trump’s popularity decline… Another Murdoch-controlled outlet also slammed the Trump administration. In a Wall Street Journal column, Jeff Coller blasted Donald Trump’s HHS chief Robert F. Kennedy Jr’s decision to stop funding mRNA respiratory vaccine research and development. “My work began in the days of basic RNA biology, and it has reached to seeing my graduate student help design the Moderna Covid vaccine,” wrote Coller, a professor of biology at Johns Hopkins.  “I’ve watched these discoveries save millions of lives worldwide. Mr. Kennedy’s decision must be reversed”…Is this our nation? Oklahoma now requires teachers from New York and California applying for positions in the Sooner State to pass a certification test to ensure that they support a MAGA curriculum. According to USA Today, that means they agree with “elements of a conspiracy theory  that the Democratic Party stole the 2020 presidential election from President Donald Trump”…It took guts for MSNBC to rename their brand MS NOW (as in My Source News Opinion Now).  Still, it feels like a stretch (or a MS-take).  My first impression was that the progressive news network is competing with a deadly disease for name recognition.  The antiquated MS-DOS operating system popped into my brain too. The new branding may be even worse than MSNBC, one of the worst names for a cable network. The marketing department is facing a huge challenge and conservative critics are salivating….If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard
