Springsteen’s “Born in the U.S.A.” was not the Shining City on the Hill. It was not Morning in America. It was mourning in America. A staunch liberal Democrat, Springsteen cashed in on our patriotic feelings and juvenile gullibility. He ran our cash all the way to the bank.
