The White House Wire Links Most to Murdoch-Controlled Websites in June

Murdoch-controlled media outlets received the most links from the White House Wire (WWW) in June, according to new research released today by TheRighting. The White House Wire is the Drudge-Report-like mini-aggregation website and newsletter created by the White House to spotlight articles favorable to the Trump administration.  Each day, links to articles from six news outlets are posted with one or two descriptive sentences.

TheRighting’s research found that in June, the WWW linked to Fox News 22 times, followed by Fox Business, 13 times, and Murdoch’s New York Post, 10 times.  In a surprising development, the Canadian-based Post-Millennial had nine WWW links. It was more than many other right-wing stalwarts that dominate the conservative news ecosystem.   Breitbart was cited eight times in June, the fifth-highest total for the month.

While the Trump administration often criticizes many mainstream news outlets by calling their reporting “Fake News,” TheRighting discovered that the administration linked 19 times to mainstream sources.  “This data shows the hypocrisy of the White House,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting.  “Favorable stories about the administration posted by mainstream media get links from the White House Wire. But if mainstream media outlets publish an article or report that’s critical of the administration, it’s labeled ‘fake news.’”

The mainstream media outlets with the most links were CNN (5), CBS News (3), The NY Times (2) and Reuters (2). ABC News, Axios, Bloomberg, CNBC and NBC News all received one WWW link.

Many prominent right-wing news outlets were ignored last month by the WWW.  They include the National Review, Infowars, The Gateway Pundit and the Epoch Times.
