In the late 1950s and early 1960s, Thalidomide was supposedly the safe rescue drug for pregnant women who had morning sickness. In 1961, there were thousands of German-born babies with severe birth defects that were a direct result of Thalidomide use by their mothers…Thalidomide was never adequately tested by the manufacturing pharmaceutical company.
