It is a fact that whites are the only ethnic group that ever votes majority Republican. By any rational calculus, therefore, Republicans’ sole objective every election should be driving up the white vote, both as a share of the GOP voters and as a share of the electorate. It’s great if minorities vote for you, too, but that’s not what wins elections.
