No one objects to the descendants of immigrants celebrating and acknowledging their ancestors’ customs, holidays, and cuisines. But identity-politics still determines which ethnicities get their yearly month of celebration. Irish, Italians, Chinese, Japanese and many others rarely get the same national attention.
