Greetings Word of the day: Ambush.  That’s the only way to describe the Oval Office meeting Trump had with South African President Matamela Cyril Ramaphosa. And the purpose seemed to be to humiliate and bully a Black man in front of television cameras so the eyes of the world could witness the ugly encounter. Angry white men – Trump’s base – must have loved it. AP posted video of the entire sad episode...Phrase of the day: elder abuse.  The NY Post reports that iconic Washington Post columnist and DC socialite Sally Quinn accused Jill Biden of elder abuse.  Quinn told podcaster Tara Palmeri that Jill urged Joe to run despite his cognitive decline.  The NY Post also published an opinion article by a geriatric specialist echoing Quinn’s opinion.  Dr. Beth Healy wrote that as an alarmed citizen, she has alerted Delaware’s Adult Protective Services Division that the former president might be a victim of elder abuse...Juvenile! Trump posted a fake video showing him hitting a golf ball that hit Bruce Springsteen in the back during a concert. Looks like something a teenager would post on TikTok...Dept. of No Surprises: The Trump-run Kennedy Center in DC is hosting a free screening of the animated Christian film “King of Kings” on June 1. ( WND)... One of TheRighting’s loyal readers was such a fan of Joe Biden during the first 3.5 years of his administration that he intended to launch a website called JoeBidenDidThat.com to “catalog and praise his good work.” When Biden started nosediving in the first half of 2024, my reader saw the writing on the wall and pumped the brakes. Greetings! Doofus alert. Trump cabinet cast member Kristi Noem, the country’s head of Homeland Security, blew it big time yesterday as she flubbed the definition of habeus corpus. While appearing before a Senate committee on her department’s budget, she was asked by Sen. Maggie Hassan (D-NH) about the meaning of the term.  NPR reports what happened next and try not to let your jaw hit the floor: “The secretary responded: ‘Habeas corpus is a constitutional right that the president has to be able to remove people from this country.’ In reality, habeas corpus is a bedrock constitutional legal principle that safeguards individuals from unlawful imprisonment by enabling them to petition the court to review the legality of their detention.” You can watch the entire four-minute video of Sen. Hassan’s epic and well-deserved takedown of numbskull Noem here.  Worth noting: on MSNBC this morning, commentator Katty Kay theorized that Noem really knew the definition but she was giving an answer that Trump would like.
