Irony alert: While Los Angeles struggles with social unrest and the aftermath of the deadly January fires, we mourn today the death of Beach Boys resident genius Brian Wilson whose music embodied the utopian ideal of southern California.  His songs helped shape the country’s image of his native land as a magical place filled with abundant sunshine, glorious beaches, girls in bikinis, souped-up cars and tanned, healthy surfers...Gag alert. The NY Post’s fiery conservative columnist Miranda Devine seems to grovel at President Trump’s feet after he appeared as the first guest on her podcast “Pod Force One.” This is what she wrote in the Post about her POTUS  interview. “When you meet Donald Trump, the first thing you notice is his hospitality. He is a bountiful host who always wants to make visitors feel comfortable. Greetings! Irony alert: the days are getting lighter as the nation slips into darkness....Ray of sunshine? California Governor Gavin Newsom gave an inspiring address yesterday blasting Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to the streets of Los Angeles. NBC News has the details. In wake of Newsom’s speech, the NY Times opines that he may be the one to lead the Democrats in the fight against Trump’s authoritarian regime. FrontPage theorizes that the Golden State Governor secretly wants to be arrested so that he could vault to the top of the Trump resistance  and “add fuel to the Trump-is-dictator nonsense in the bargain.” Wherever this leads, Newsom owned the news cycle for a few precious hours. John Fetterman (D-PA) is drawing praise from the conservative blog Victory Girls for besmirching LA’s anti-ICE demonstrations.  Fetterman described the unrest as “anarchy and true chaos.” Victory Girls gushed that “Senator Fetterman has the clarity that essentially NONE of his fellow Democrats do. They’ve all been working overtime to gaslight us all into believing that all the protests have been peaceful”...Infowars sounds the alarm about this Saturday’s “No Kings” mass protest and frames it as a coup to topple the current administration. According to the bile-spewing InfoWars, “The leftist legacy media, in coordination with Democrats, is laying the groundwork for an attempted overthrow of America by portraying President Trump as a lawless monarch.” Sheesh.  That’s a lot of crazy to process...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting.
