TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Pope Leo has criticized the Trump administration in the past.  What are the odds POTUS picks a fight in the next six months with the new leader of the Catholic church?...It’s exactly 400 days until Trump’s 80th birthday.  Never too early to start planning a $20 million military parade to celebrate our mad king….Weekend Watch: Offbeat pick today. The magnificent inlets and bays of Long Island are on my mind as I head out tomorrow to the Jones Beach Inlet to start my summer fishing routine. Therefore, it’s only natural that I’m recommending the short documentary The Bay Houses of Long Island.  Available for free on YouTube (betcha thought I was going to pick Conclave)....Weekend Read: I have an enduring respect and admiration for our steadfast ally and neighbor to the north. So it’s only fitting this week that I steer you toward a couple of nonfiction books I just finished about two of Canada’s favorite sons.  Lorne, written by Susan Morrison, takes a deep dive into the life, times and heady accomplishments of Lorne Michaels, the creator and guiding force behind “Saturday Night Live.”  Both the show and Canadian-born Michaels are still going strong after 50 years.  Former Vanity Fair editor Graydon Carter, another Canadian, weighs in with a cheerful look at his charmed life (and virtually unlimited expense accounts) in Manhattan’s glitzy magazine trenches of the 90s and aughts in the autobiography When the Going Was Good.  Both Michaels and Carter had an outsize influence on American culture and we are all richer because of it.  Thank you Canada!...If you keep reading, I’ll keep scrolling. Nutty Transgender Congresswoman Complains About Gulf of America Name Change

source: Outkick

This Sarah McBride – the insufferable transgender congresswoman from Delaware who used to be Tim McBride – is maybe the biggest hypocrite in the Democratic Party. A congresswoman who literally changed her entire sexuality AND her name, is now upset that she/he/they/them (I honestly don't know at this point which is right) had to vote to change the name of the Gulf of Mexico.

Columbia University’s Pulitzer Disgrace

source: Washington Free Beacon

The increasingly irrelevant Pulitzer Prizes were awarded on Monday to a slew of left-wing news reports. The prize for commentary went to the "Palestinian poet" Mosab Abu Toha for his work in the New Yorker—"deep reporting with the intimacy of memoir," as the Pulitzer board put it—depicting the evils of the Israeli military campaign in Gaza

Biden’s Gaza Pier to Nowhere Was Worse Than We Thought

source: Victory Girls

American taxpayers unwillingly forked over $230 million dollars to build a floating pier that was operational for barely twenty days. And we have nothing to show for it but lives lost and 62 soldiers injured. Today the media is bleating about how dangerous the DoD, Pentagon, Trump, and Hegseth are to our military.

Useless Government

source: Townhall

By John Stossel: Government-backed student loans are welfare for the better off. Colleges abused the handouts by raising tuition about three times faster than the rate of inflation. Students and parents rarely complained, or even asked, "Why is tuition (at some schools) $60,000!?" They didn't push

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! The far-right One America News Network is going to provide programming for free to the Voice of America, which is funded by the U.S. government.  That’s according to VOA senior advisor Kari Lake. The VOA is supposed to be a neutral news source broadcasting across the globe.  In case you’ve forgotten, OAN erroneously stated that Trump won the 2020 election. And former far-right Florida Congressman Matt Gaetz, who was accused of child sex trafficking, is one of the network’s prime time anchors. (Reuters)…What’s Trump’s worst idea since tariffs?  The editorial board of the Wall Street Journal says it’s drug price controls… Smart! Earlier this week, Trump announced that the 2027 NFL draft will be held on DC’s National Mall.  As much as it pains me to say this, the initiative really helps bond his movement to young men, a notoriously hard demographic to reach.  It’s one of the reasons ESPN chatting head Stephen Smith has been mentioned as a longshot Dem candidate in 2028. (NBC Sports)…Neil Kemp, one of TheRighting’s faithful readers in Canada, has a bone to pick with Americans voting Trump into office last November.  In his Letter to TheRighting, he writes that in Canada’s recent election, Canadians choose the liberal Mark Carney because he was anti-Trump and was “somebody to deal with the asshole you gave your government to.” Point taken Mr. Kemp!...And finally some good news about ice (the substance, not the federal agency). Newsmax reports that the Antarctic ice sheet had record-breaking growth between 2021 and 2023. Not sure I fully believe, but I hope it’s true…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting.  Howard

Dems’ Liberal Reich Is Right Around the Corner

Our national survival is at stake. If we allow the left to make the country ungovernable, America is doomed

Killing Democracy to Save “Democracy”

source: Townhall

By Kurt Schlichter: We have a Boomer generation ruling class that is desperately seeking to cling to power and is willing to do anything to keep it. Anything. This is a matter of life and death, and they’re willing to take lives and deal death to keep their power.

Biden and Kamala’s Comeback Reminds the World Dems Have No Bench

source: NY Post

What if America’s two most famous Democrats tried to stage comebacks and absolutely no one cared? Joe Biden and Kamala Harris seem intent on finding out the answer.

The Only Solution to the Crisis of Radical District Judges

By Newt Gingrich: It’s clear that America's district judges are forcing a constitutional crisis

Why Justice Must Bring the Hammer Down on Every Corrupt Soros Prosecutor

source: NY Post

Pam Bondi and Harmeet Dhillon are going after Mary Moriarty for her racist policies. A good start.

Disneyland to Open in Muslim Country That Locks Up Gay People

source: FrontPage

Disney, like most companies, aggressively pushes wokeness on Americans. But it behaves very differently in China and the Muslim world. And now Disney is opening Disneyland Abu Dhabi where being gay means a prison sentence. You can bet there won’t be any bearded princesses or any of the other woke nonsense as in Disneylands in Western countries.

Nashville Middle School Teacher Also Doubles as Drag Queen

Well, would you look at that — yet another "homeschool your kids" ad practically writes itself.

German Democracy Is in Peril

source: The American Conservative

The mainstream parties aim to ban AfD for the “crime” of believing that Germans exist and deserve a homeland.

Germany’s Survival Is on the Line

source: Powerline

Germany is now in decline, mostly on account of horrific government policies. The only significant force for change is the Alternative For Germany [AfD] party, which has recently been labeled a “right-wing extremist” organization. The German government’s ostracism of AfD is meant to analogize them to the Nazi party, but that is ridiculous.

12-Foot Statue of Obese Black Woman Appears in Times Square

source: PJ Media

It probably looked great on whatever DEI grant sponsored the project. Somehow, through whatever labyrinthine scheme, tax dollars almost certainly bankrolled this display. The main virtue of the brave and stunning statue...is that she is not white or male.

Jen Psaki Exposed as the Huge Liar We Always Knew She Was

source: Washington Times

It takes a truly special kind of person to be the White House press secretary.

The Genius of Trump’s Attacks on the Ivy League

source: City Journal

University presidents can undo fear-based decisions they made during the years of Peak Woke.

The NY Times Is Destroying America’s Political Discourse

source: American Greatness

Does the New York Times believe Americans are clueless? The paper’s May 4, 2025, Sunday edition, a compilation of articles regarding President Trump’s first 100 days in office, implicitly questions our society’s political intellect with one heavy-handed, but jejune, article after another.
