Help wanted.  ICE is looking to hire at least one public affairs specialist, perhaps several, according to this posting at USAJOBS.  The number one requirement for the job – and I kid you not – is that applicants must be a U.S. citizen.  Talk about stating the obvious. Applicants should also have experience “communicating complex topics for a public audience.”  That’s the understatement of the year. The pay ain’t bad if you don’t mind selling your soul: qualified job seekers can earn as much as $171K...Torpedo in the water: Trump has filed a $15 billion lawsuit – that’s no typo – against the NY Times suing the publication for defamation and libel. If the Times buckles or goes bankrupt, what remains of the free press not beholden to the Trump administration will essentially be brought to its knees. In a Truth Social post last night, Trump termed the legendary news organization “one of the worst and most degenerate newspapers in the History of our Country.” (Fox News)...WND has published a list – pulled from random speculation on social media platforms – of conservative figures likely to be the next assassination targets. The names include Ben Shapiro, JK Rowling, Andy Ngo, Matt Walsh and Elon Musk...President Trump is already touting the October 15 release of Eric Trump’s book Under Siege: My Family’s Fight to Save Our Nation.  Papa Trump – who wrote the foreword (natch) – brags that the book is number one on Amazon.  (Actually, it tops the political leaders biographies list, ahead of gems like How to  Test Negative for Stupid, which is probably on Eric’s bedside table.)...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. I suspect will see more from Dowd in that newsletter space in the coming weeks. Worth noting: Lincoln Project co-founder Steve Schmidt offers a spirited defense of Dowd on his Substack....Rev your conspiracy engines: A  Washington Free Beacon exclusive states that the FBI is looking into social media accounts indicating “foreknowledge” of the Kirk killing.  “The posts—one of which referenced the date of Kirk’s assassination, September 10, more than a month before it took place—were all deleted in the days following the killing,” according to the Free  Beacon’s Aaron Sibarium... Trump just did Joe Concha a huge solid on Truth Social  by promoting the conservative commentator’s tome The Greatest Comeback Ever: Inside Trump’s Big Beautiful Campaign. Concha’s MAGA love letter of a book dropped five months ago. ...Last night’s Emmys ceremony  was mostly politics-free, save for  “Hacks” co-star Hannah Einbinder’s four-letter ICE outburst and her call to “free Palestine.” (NY Post)...The Free Press was only one of the three right-wing websites to post traffic gains in August, according to TheRighting’s new analysis. Founded in 2022 by neo-con Bari Weiss, there have been multiple reports that The Free Press is about to be acquired by Skydance, the budding media giant that just acquired Paramount.  If the deal goes through, there’s serious speculation that Weiss, who made a noisy and nasty exit from her editorial post at the New York Times in 2020, will assume an editorial leadership role at Paramount-controlled CBS News.  Naturally, agita inside the home of “60 Minute” has been turned up to 11 at the prospect of having Weiss  at the reins of the storied news division...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting.
