Greetings! Christmas in July for conservatives? Right-wing media may be rejoicing today. Political pundits are interpreting Kamala Harris’s decision to eschew a run for California governor as a signal that she intends a 2028 Oval Office bid. And that makes her an ongoing target for mockery and disdain from right-wing media and the current MAGA-master of 1600 Pennsylvania Ave.  The one Dem who may be happy about Kamala’s Golden State decision is Zohran Mamdani whom Harris may temporarily replace as MAGA-nation’s Public Enemy No 1...Speaking of Mandami, Politico has cleverly coined a term about the constant negativity directed at the winner of last month's NYC Democratic mayoral primary: Zohran Derangement Syndrome...Brown University reached a multi-million settlement with the Trump administration that restores federal funding.  In return, Brown abolished several DEI programs. Naturally The Donald  celebrated with a Truth Social post: “There will be no more Anti-Semitism, or Anti-Christian, or Anti-Anything Else!,” he wrote. “Woke is officially DEAD at Brown”...Also worth noting on Truth Social: Trump called Fed Chair Jerome Powell stupid. And he wrote, for no immediately discernible reason that I can think of, that ultra-right One America News Network, the home to Matt Gaetz’s daily prime time show, “is making a huge comeback, with millions of new viewers.  Congratulations to OAN”... That’s the solution to urban violence says the Daily Caller’s Geoffrey Ingersoll in a disturbing column pegged to the recent attack on two people in downtown Cincinnati.  “There’s a lot of focus on the mob being black while the victims were white,” he wrote. “At this point, I’ll put in print what I’ve been saying for several years now: Has any movement done more to contribute to public derangement of the inner-city black community than Black Lives Matter?” Ingersoll goes on to call for what is essentially a police state patrolling our urban centers. “Treat public displays of mob violence with disproportionate displays of state violence. I’m talking police horses trampling people. Broken bones. Billy clubs matted with hair and blood. People with broken hands can’t commit crimes for at least three months”...Hollywood starlet and “It Girl” Sydney Sweeney's new blue jeans TV ad is the latest Madison Ave. offering pitting right against left.  (Check out the many headlines on the issue I’ve culled from today and yesterday.) Wondering if there’s something lasting here or it’s just a dog days of summer nothingburger that will fade in a month. One thing is for certain: American Eagle will make big green bucks on those pre-washed blue denims. Worth noting: Other than Ted Cruz, who defended the ad, no prominent politician or celebrity on the left or right appears to have waded into the jeans debate.
