TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Two former first daughters weighed in over the weekend about Trump’s destruction of the East Wing of the White House to make room for his gilded ballroom.  Patti Davis, the daughter of Ronald Reagan and his second wife Nancy, had this to say in a NY Times op ed: “The images we’ve now all seen of the East Wing being demolished are heartbreaking. Over the centuries, many presidents have altered the White House, and certainly older buildings need to be updated and repaired. But this is complete destruction.” Bill and Hillary Clinton’s only child, Chelsea, echoed a similar sentiment in a USA Today opinion piece: “Yes, the president has authority over the White House grounds,” she wrote. “But authority is not the same as stewardship. Stewardship requires transparency, consultation and an accounting for history. A disregard for history is  defining trait of President Trump’s second administration.” Worth noting: the editorial board of the Washington Post defended Trump’s plans to build a massive ballroom next to the White House. And naturally, Trump crowed about it in a Truth Social post...Thirty-three-year-old podcaster Allie Beth Stuckey may be the heir apparent to Charlie Kirk.  So says the Wall Street Journal in a long profile of the rising star in conservative media who has an outsize appeal to evangelical women...Bye-bye Beshear? Perhaps Governor Andy Beshear (D-KY) should kiss good-bye any ambitions he has about a 2028 White House run after face-planting big time on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher.” As the first guest on the Friday night program, Beshear gave anodyne answers to pointed questions about the political landscape. Maher looked visibly annoyed with his bland responses. He certainly didn’t come across as a viable Democratic candidate for president in 2028...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Louvre Heist Encapsulates a Western Culture That Will Not Defend Itself

source: WND

The utterly humiliating inability of French authorities to prevent the theft of the literal crown jewelsis the most poetic possible way to demonstrate a point that has come up in so many of my conversations this week: At best, European political and cultural elites have no interest in protecting and preserving their culture.

From “No Kings” tantrums to ballroom hysteria, Democrats’ endless outrage shows the same pattern—Trump leads, they react, and outrage is all they have left.

House Dems Threw a Government Shutdown and No One Cared

The party of big government lost the presidency and both houses of Congress, then demanded a federal shutdown to impose its welfare-state agenda on the nation — and no one seemed to notice.

Moms for Liberty Continues Its Noble Quest to Protect Kids

source: Washington Examiner

The organization seeks to protect their children from radical left-wing extremist ideologies and has forged a national cultural shift, exposing fraught educational curricula and radical left-wing brainwashing practices in schools. Instead of being educated, the country’s children were being indoctrinated. The work of Moms for Liberty helped uncover this harrowing reality.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greeting! Happy birthday Erie Canal. Sunday marks the 200th birthday of the famed upstate New York waterway.  It helped make America great by connecting the Great Lakes to the Atlantic Ocean via the Hudson River.  And that significantly reduced the cost of transporting goods to New York harbor putting the country on the road to becoming an economic powerhouse. (NYS Canals)...Right-wing headline of the day: An article in The Dispatch earlier this week threw plenty of shade on Graham Platner, the Maine oysterman chasing the Democratic nomination for senator of the Pine Tree State. Here’s the priceless headline on the story: “Blue Oyster Cult”... Must read: Check out the Stop the Presses newsletter to read Mark Jacob’s grades he’s given to almost two dozen major mainstream news organizations for their coverage of the Trump administration. Here’s just a small sample of the grades: Associated Press (B+), USA Today (C), NBC (C-) and ABC (D-)...Weekend Watches: Lots to see this weekend. The much-anticipated nuclear war movie A House of Dynamite bows on Netflix today, but it’s probably not recommended for those with nerves that are frayed. A missile with a nuclear warhead has been launched by an unidentified enemy and POTUS has 18 minutes to decide how to respond before it lands on American soil. Nail-biter! And just in time for Halloween, on Sunday HBO Max offers the “It” prequel series Welcome to Derry, inspired by Stephen King’s 1986 novel. For a less nerve-jangling, more foot-stomping choice, the Bruce Springsteen biopic Deliver Me from Nowhere lands in theaters today. Hollywood in Toto predicts the film bombs because of The Boss’s anti-Trump tirades...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

The Great Military Feminization

The U.S. military’s growing embrace of emotional, consensus-driven leadership has weakened its warfighting edge—decisive command must return if America is to win wars again.

The Crashing Failure of the Feminist Movement

After graduating from college and laboring in the workforce for over a decade, millions of women realized that this money-making thing wasn’t all it was cracked up to be.  But looking for a good man — after stepping on their necks on the way up the ladder — was even more problematic.

Fat Loser Generals Can Get Bent

source: Townhall

By Kurt Schlichter: An undisciplined force is a force that will fail in battle, but battle is not what these generals and admirals are concerned about. They are more concerned with their own personal power and prestige and with grasping the next rung on the ladder. This is why we lose.

No One Is Tearing Down the Trump Ballroom

source: National Review

If anyone thinks that a future Democrat will eschew the chance to host major events on White House grounds without getting their shoes dirty, they’re nuts. The next Democratic president will make extensive use of the ballroom without apology, if only because it is of immense and objective practical utility.
