TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Eighty years ago today, an atomic bomb was dropped on Hiroshima.  Since then, the  specter of nuclear war hangs over civilization. Mankind has been lucky the past eight decades to have gone this long without a nuclear attack on any nation. What are the odds of another nuclear-war-free 80 years?  Worth noting: Approximately 215,000 people were killed by the two atomic bombs dropped on Hiroshima and Nagasaki in August of 1945.  FrontPage declares that “nuking Japan saved more lives than it took”....The NY Times profiled Campus Reform, a small but influential right-wing organization dedicated to spotlighting left bias at colleges and universities.  That prompted Morton Blackwell, president of the conservative think tank Leadership Institute, which operates the Campus Reform website, to send a fiery email to his supporters. “The Times article confirms what leftists have long feared,” he wrote. “(C)onservatives are winning the fight on college campuses and inspiring young people to reject leftist indoctrination. Good!...The “It” restaurant among the Washington right is Butterworths, according to City Journal.  Butterworth co-owner Raheem Kassan is also editor-in-chief of the ultra-right National Pulse. Here’s the positive review of the eatery from the Washington Post...Learn something new every day: About 75% of cars sold in Nepal are EVs. (NY Times)...Who’s the future of the Democratic party?  Not Zohran Mamdani, according to Fox News.  Jonathan Cott opines on the Fox News website that it’s Rep. Mikie Sherill (D-NJ) and Abigail Spanberger who is running for governor of Virginia...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Trump Seems to Have Picked His Dream Ticket in 2028

By Matt Vespa: While a Vance-Rubio 2028 ticket is interesting and one I can vote for, a Trump third term is where I stand right now. Legality be damned.

Texas Dems Turn on Democracy

source: Daily Caller

For Texas Democrats, it’s all about the power, stupid. And if they can’t win elections to get that power?  Then they’re taking their ball and going not home — but to Illinois. You remember Illinois? The state that has a legendary history for stealing elections?

Did Conservatives in Poland Just Win the Culture War?

source: European Conservative

Progressive politics, once boldly proclaiming itself to be the vanguard of the moral transformation of Western man, feels irrelevant in a world no longer defined by peace and prosperity.

Nuking the Redskins’ Name Did Nothing to Help American Indians

President Trump said the Commanders would be ‘much more valuable’ if they restored their old name. He couldn’t be more accurate.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal, which is the target of a $10 billion lawsuit via Donald Trump, continues to criticize POTUS.  The WSJ’s  editorial board denounced his firing of Bureau of Labor Statistics chief Lisa McEntrafer for releasing objective data showing lousy July employment numbers. “Mr. Trump’s data denial is one more reason fewer Americans will trust the government,” opined the WSJ's  editors in a much-too understated tone for me. Worth noting: American Spectator thinks that McEntarfer’s termination “was long overdue”...Make America Read Again: Trump is pushing two tomes: On Power, by Fox News commentator Mark Levin, and Butler, by right wing journo Salena Zito. “These are incredible ‘reads’ for MAGA conservatives,” the Book-Reviewer-in-Chief wrote on Truth Social... American Eagle spokesmodel and controversy magnet Sydney Sweeney leans GOP. Buzzfeed revealed this fact from examining Florida voter registration records that since 2024, Sweeney has been a registered Republican in the Sunshine State...Speaking of Sweeney, who else has good genes besides the star of “Euphoria” and “White Lotus”? Here’s my partial list (and they’re all Nepo babies unlike Sweeney): Michael Douglas, Caroline Kennedy, Kate Hudson, Jamie Lee Curtis, Peyton and Eli Manning, Patrick Schwarzenegger, John David Washington, and Gwyneth Paltrow. If you’ve got other suggestions, fire away....I’m on the road tomorrow for a family adventure.  This newsletter will resume publication Wednesday...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Making Ballrooms Great Again: Trump Bringing Glitz (and More Gold) to White House

source: SteveGruber.com

Trump picked McCrery Architects, famed for their classical flair, to help with the ballroom’s design. And just in case anyone thought taxpayers would be footing the bill, that’s a big N-O. Trump and “patriot donors” will pick up the $200 million tab, proving this time that MAGA means Make Architecture Grand Again.

The Best Is Yet to Come in Trump’s America

Not all change is bad, and the changes that Trump is bringing to America are positive, both practically and in terms of the intangible aspects of the American spirit.

Trump’s Tariff Triumphs

source: Townhall

The Chicken Littles predicting economic apocalypse because of President Donald Trump’s tariff strategy have been unusually quiet of late. Remember those early Spring days when we all were reliably assured that the sky was falling? The media and globalists from both parties have since moved to other panics, but we won't forget.

Focus on What Hillary Did

source: Washington Examiner

There’s a house-of-mirrors quality to the newly-declassified annex from special counsel John Durham’s investigation of the investigation in the Trump-Russia matter. There’s a simpler way to read it: Just focus on what we know the Hillary Clinton campaign actually did in the 2016 presidential campaign against Donald Trump.

Don’t Overlook Hillary

Cincinnati Beating Puts Anti-White Racism on Display

source: Washington Examiner

As DEI fever swept the country during the Biden years, some quietly complied to safeguard their careers. Others, such as the current leadership of Cincinnati, embraced DEI not just as policy, but as a personal worldview. And, following the brutal assault of a white couple by a group of predominantly young black individuals in Cincinnati last weekend, it’s come back to haunt them.

After Blacks in Cincinnati Beat White Adults, Why Was There No Nationwide Outrage?

source: NY Post

The diversity/equity/inclusion industry, the defund-the-police madness and the perpetual left-wing hunt for “white racism/white privilege/white rage” — from the prior Pentagon hierarchy to the lunatic fringe of Jasmine Crockett, Joy Reid and Zohran Mamdani — have all legitimized double standards while lowering the bar of the once unacceptable.
