Greetings! Naked, nude and angry: Plans are underway in Oregon for a naked bike ride through the streets of Portland featuring angry cyclists protesting the Trump administration’s planned deployment of the National Guard in liberal city.  Nude bike riding in Portland has been used as a protest tool previously but primarily against forms of transportation that consume fossil fuels. No date has been set, but there will be no shortage of photographers to document the made-for-social-media event. (MyNorthwest.com)...Democrats to keep an eye on: James Talarico, a 36-year-old Texas Democrat running for Senate. Michelle Goldberg of the NY Times suggests that he may be the savior his party has been waiting for because he’s young, talented and openly religious.  Also worth watching, per my scouts in the Bay State: Congressman Jake Auchincloss (D-MA) who is a  Harvard grad, Fox News contributor, progressive on many issues and author of a popular Substack (49,000 subscribers) Simple But Not Easy...Sec. of War Pete “Hairgel” Hegseth just got slammed by NY longtime columnist Cindy Adams.  She advises the bumbling macho man to show more respect to women serving in the military.  She called the former Fox News weekend anchor a “Douglas MacArthur-lite TV talker.”...I’ve just posted my analysis of the links in September from the White House Wire, the Drudge-Report-like mini-aggregation newsletter featuring good news about the Trump administration. Breitbart received more than a dozen links which shows it’s an important part of the White House news diet.  That’s a scary thought. But Fox News and the NY Post generated more links than any other news outlets as I’ve reported in previous months.  One surprise: Newsmax only got one link....If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Something is very wrong: Two media outlets on the left and the right flagged mental health issues for officials at the very top of the Trump administration.  The Atlantic nailed it succinctly with this headline that had me cheering: “The Commander in Chief Is Not OK.”  MSNBC's Lawrence O'Donnell would definitely agree as you can see in this clip from last night's show. And the Wall Street Journal’s Peggy Noonan sounded the alarm about SecDef Pete “Hairgel” Hegseth in a devastating column that ends with this punch to his gut, “Something is wrong with this guy.” Gotta love the headline too: “The Embarrassing Mr. Hegseth.” Worth noting: American Spectator thinks it’s the Democrats who are unwell, not Trump...Speaking of Hegseth, The Dispatch, which leans right, justifiably smacks the SecDef with this article: Dress Codes or Codes of Honor?  Writer Kevin Williamson accuses him of pogonophobia (fear of beards) and points out that Hegseth has “’Beverly Hills, 90210’-style sideburns (that) often extend to a length that would be prohibited under military grooming standards’”...Trump dropped another vile “Sombrero” video last night.  The 85-second Truth Social clip featured a sombrero-wearing actor speaking with a Trump-sounding voice and in Spanglish, as he rants about the “Schumer shutdown” and the “Schumer siesta.” It’s an ugly and racist depiction of a Mexican or Central  American....Right-wing media outlets are starting to rev their outrage engines because Harvard has hired a drag queen named LaWhore Vagistan to teach one course on queer ethnography and another on “RuPaulitics: Drag, Race and Desire” for the spring semester.  The NY Post’s Kirsten Fleming is not a fan. The Donald has yet to weigh in but the week ain’t over....If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Conservative journalist Nick Sortor was captured on video being taken into custody in Portland, Oregon, during another night of chaotic protests outside a U.S. ICE facility. The Post Millennial's Katie Daviscourt said on X that police "announced they were making targeted arrests following several scuffles," and that, "Sortor was being targeted by Antifa shortly before."
