By 2013, Germany had installed more solar capacity than any other nation, much of it imported from China. Solar PV panels and wind turbines represented 37.5 percent of generating capacity. Of the two, solar was less efficient than wind. Meanwhile, 40 million German households witnessed the total amount they paid for electricity increase an estimated 50 percent in nine years between 2006 and 2015.
