Visits to All Top Right-Wing News Websites Drop for Second Straight Month

Mainstream Media Outlets Also Experience Significant Decreases

For the second consecutive month, year-over-year (YOY) visits to all of the 20 most popular right-wing news websites declined.  According to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of mobile and desktop traffic based on Similarweb data in June, 17 of  top 20 right-wing news websites tracked regularly by TheRighting experienced double-digit decreases.

“The ongoing negative trend in traffic is bad news for news websites,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting.  “It’s surprising because a war with Iran and volatile gas prices should be driving more visits to news outlets. Consumer dependency on AI for their information needs is certainly one factor depressing visits, but news fatigue and the growing popularity of other platforms like podcasts and YouTube cannot be ruled out.”

The three mainstream news websites TheRighting follows on a monthly basis, all had YOY decreases in visits: CNN (-35%), the Washington Post (-27%) and the NY Times (-10%).
