What sort of message will the decision this week send to our children? How will our young people, already assailed on all sides by our no-consequences culture, react to the notion that someone can try to kill a president and walk free, even 40 years after the fact? At a time when the rule of law in America is being undermined, the decision on Hinckley was the worst thing that could have happened.
