Visits to Truth Social Surge 27% in January, More Than Any Right-Wing News Website

January 2026 traffic to right-wing websites Year-over-year (YOY) visits to the Trump-controlled Truth Social ballooned 27% in January, more than any right-wing news website.   According to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of mobile and desktop traffic based on Similarweb data, Truth Social drew 23.8 million visits in January 2026 compared to January 2025 when it had 18.9 million visits.

For the third month in a row, YOY visits decreased at The Free Press, the right-titling news and opinion website co-founded by Bari Weiss. Last month, The FP registered 4.9 million visits compared to 6.1 million visits in January 2025.

“The steep drop-off in year-over-year visits to most news sites on the left and right was expected because they are being compared to January 2025, when Donald Trump was inaugurated for his controversial second term,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting. “However, the audience growth of the president’s Truth Social platform was surprisingly strong in January 2026. It demonstrates his skill in using Truth Social as one of his main channels to express his often polarizing views. For legions of Trump watchers – both professionals and amateurs – it’s turned into a must-read.”

Among the three mainstream news websites TheRighting tracks on a monthly basis, only The New York Times experienced a YOY gain in visits (+4%). CNN (-11%) and The Washington Post (-25%) both had YOY declines.
