TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Food fight in Phoenix: Turning Point USA just concluded its annual conference in Arizona yesterday and it turned into something close to a MAGA civil war. The headline attraction featured right-wing heavyweights Tucker Carlson and Ben Shapiro who attacked each other in separate speeches. For progressives looking for cracks in MAGA World, this event ranks close to being exhibit #1. Axios has the details and a killer headline: “MAGA Mess Deepens at Turning Point Convention”...Another story broke yesterday evening in what should have been a sleepy Sunday just days before Christmas.  CBS News yanked a “60 Minutes” story about Venezuelan migrants in the U.S. who have been deported to a notorious prison in El Salvador. Suffice to say, it would have reflected poorly on the Trump administration.  Correspondent Sharyn Alfonsi charged that CBS News’s top editor and anti-wokester Bari Weiss killed the segment.  Alfonsi also noted that the piece was snuffed for political reasons. The network says it will air the segment at a later day. This story ain’t over, by a long shot. (Politico)...Monster House: In the avalanche of last week’s fast-breaking news and Trump’s insults, I missed this story from the Daily Beast about the “secret plans for the monster Trump White House ballroom.” The story contains some head-spinning details about the new structure including a multi-level passageway that will link the new structure to the White House, guest suites (for MAGA royalty, no doubt), and a grand staircase. Sounds like it's a ballroom fit for a king..If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Fraud Sounds Too Nice for What Happened in Minnesota. Let’s Call It Stealing

source: Conservative View from NH

This may turn out to be the most significant theft of government money in our history, and ABC, CBS, and NBC did what Minnesota politicians did: they turned a blind eye to the matter. Fraud may be too complex a concept to understand for most Americans, so let’s call it what it is: stealing, and in this case, stealing to a massive degree.

Falling Fertility Rates Won’t Bring Joy to the World

source: Washington Times

Christmas is about the birth of a child. While Christians celebrate the Nativity, our own cradles are increasingly empty — a trend that will not bring joy to the world.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! The Narcissist’s Name Game: Donald Trump is on a rampage to plaster his name on every government program and building he can.  The Kennedy Center represents the latest  desecration of a treasured national institution.  JFK’s niece Maria Shriver expresses her horror in this post. What next? Trump-JFK Airport? AmTrump?...In stark contrast, Barack Obama has released his annual list of his favorite movies, books and music of the past year.  The list includes Oscar-bait  films  “Jay Kelly” and “Train Dreams,” as well as notable tomes  “Mark Twain,” by Ron Chernow, and “1929,” by Andrew Ross Sorkin...Speaking of lists, Mediaite caused quite a stir  this week with its ranking of the 75 most influential people in news media for 2025. I won’t spoil the fun by revealing who is No. 1, but here’s a teaser:  Megyn Kelly placed third. Yours truly didn't crack the Top 75. Maybe in 2026....The Donald’s speed freak 18-minute prime time performance  Wednesday night made it easy to miss the torrent of lies, insults and petty grievances. Here’s a full transcript of what he said and it ain’t pretty....Weekend Watch: Amazon Prime’s Merchants of Joy is the perfect Christmas documentary. It puts the cutthroat business of selling Christmas trees on the mean streets of New York City under a revealing microscope. Worth noting: I’m struggling to finish the acclaimed Ken Burns six-part, 12-hour documentary “The American Revolution.”  I’m not even halfway through it but I'm not giving up...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Trump’s Plaques Are Understandable

source: FrontPage

He is setting the record straight and telling his side of the story. Trump’s capsule histories of his predecessors are a bracing reminder of how accustomed we have all become to leftists writing our history books, and would make a pointed and funny book.

Not his name. Not his face. But his presidency, his agenda, and the remaining years of his administration absolutely are.

Trump Targets Narco-Terrorists as Dems Defend Them

Democrats in Washington are rushing to defend the very criminals smuggling deadly narcotics into the United States – offering sympathy to cartel operatives even as fentanyl continues killing more than 100,000 Americans every year.

Trump Knew What He Was Doing with This Move on the Kennedy Center

The Snakes Within the Trump Administration

source: Washington Times

At many of President Trump’s 2016 rallies, he warned of the dangers of “The Snake.” Eleven months into his second term, Mr. Trump would be wise to heed his own warning.

What Was Susie Wiles Thinking Cooperating with Vanity Fair Profile?

source: Wall Street Journal

By Peggy Noonan: The accompanying photo portraits are mostly hideous, in Ms. Wiles’s case also ill-mannered and unkind. She is the first woman to be a White House chief of staff, a lady of a certain age and accomplishment who swims in the highest of high seas. She is presented as bug-eyed and insane

NYT’s Bret Stephens Is a Classless Boob Who Needs to Learn Manners

source: The Federalist

By Eddie Scarry: “We are led,” wrote NY Times columnist Stephens on Tuesday, “by the most loathsome human being ever to occupy the White House.” I’m so glad he was able to get that radiant bit of originality off his chest. God knows another content creator at the New York Times publicly declaring his antipathy for the president is exactly what the world needs.

DEI Is Dragging Down Quarterbacks Across the NFL

source: Blaze Media

You’ve heard of DEI in the workforce, but DEI in the NFL isn’t all that different. BlazeTV host Jason Whitlock determines it’s been doing far more damage than good. In 2018, 19 quarterbacks averaged more than 250 passing yards per game. Now, in 2025, there are only five quarterbacks who average more than 250 passing yards per game.

Will Amtrak Let the American Freedom Train Roll?

During America’s bicentennial, seven million Americans visited John Wayne’s ‘Freedom Train’ exhibit to celebrate America — but for America’s 250th, legal hurdles threaten to stop the Freedom Train in its tracks.
