TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings!  The Wall Street Journal is increasingly anti-ICE.  In a blistering op-ed, WSJ editors note that while ICE arrests are on the uptick, fewer of those apprehended  have criminal records.  In addition, the traditionally conservative outlet has an editorial from Tim Walz of all people. The Minnesota governor, frequently a target of right-wing media derision, writes that federal officials “are lying” about the deadly assault on his state and that the ICE invasion is “un-American”...Dept. of  Duh: the National Review declares that Kristi Noem “is a liability for the Trump administration”....Tom Homan will be in Minnesota today. Ostensibly, it’s to speak to Gov. Walz and Minneapolis Mayor Jacob Frey and forge some type of peace. I suspect Homan’s mission is to manage all the fallout from DHS lies about the two U.S. citizens, Alex Pretti and Renee Nicole Good, who were shot to death by ICE agents....Don’t let the pepper spray canisters  hit you on the ass on your way out: Gregory Bovino, the noxious face of the violent Twin Cities roundup of immigrants, departs the beleaguered city today, according to multiple press reports. Let’s hope that’s the last we see of the Trump henchman and his Third Reich-inspired attire...The right-wing sports outlet Outkick praises Budweiser for its just unveiled “unbelievably patriotic Super Bowl commercial” for the February 8  game. The spot features several bucolic scenes with a horse, a tiny bird and lots of snow. I’m not sure it’s patriotic, but it warmed my heart in this bitter cold season and put a much-needed smile on my face...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

If you want to protest, go ahead. Bring your signs. Bring your bullhorns. Bring your whistles. Scream and holler all you want. That’s your right. But do not engage directly with a law enforcement operation. And if you are given lawful orders, follow them.

Despicable Tim Walz Hits a New Low

That politicians are comparing the arrest of literal criminals to the ideological mass murder of an entire people confirms they have completely lost the plot.

Tim Walz Can’t Be Trusted to Cooperate on Immigration Enforcement

Walz has done nothing to justify the trust of the administration, and there is not sufficient public evidence that he will actually support federal law enforcement instead of seeking to undermine it.

Governor Walz Is Getting Minnesotans Killed

source: American Spectator

Neither Renee Good nor Alex Pretti were innocents. They both deliberately involved themselves in an out-of-control civil disturbance and paid for their bad judgment with their lives. A tragedy to be sure, but a thoroughly foreseeable one without doubt. You can’t get killed in a riot if you aren’t anywhere near the riot.

The Attacks on Usha Vance Are Savage and Dangerous

The Left’s Othering of SLOTUS Usha Vance was little more than the usual dehumanizing rhetoric and boilerplate ad hominem ubiquitously flung at any conservative woman who dares lift her head in public. But the announcement of her pregnancy has completely unhinged the haters.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! The right is beginning to speak out against ICE’s deadly Minneapolis rampage. Most prominently, the Wall Street Journal editorial board called for “ICE to pause” operations in the Twin Cities. Other right-wing outlets critical of ICE in the aftermath of the weekend’s horrific killing of 37-year-old ICU nurse Alex Pretti, include National Review, Townhall, and The Free Press, which charged the Trump administration for “taking the American public for fools”... Donald Trump can’t keep his climate change story straight, as TheRighting’s subscriber Arthur Ahrens pointed out to me over the weekend.  Last Friday, The Donald openly wondered about “whatever happened to global warming” in a Truth Social post about frigid temperatures soon to pummel the east.  “Funny how Trump  questions a global climate crisis, meanwhile claiming that he wants Greenland because new shipping lanes are opening in the Arctic due to Global Warming,” Ahrens wrote me...In recognition of both the dangerous snow and icy conditions blanketing at least half the country and ICE’s Minneapolis occupation army, I present my random list of movies with the word “ice” in the title:  “The Ice Road” (2021), “Ice Age” (2002), “The Ice Storm” (1997), “Miracle on Ice” (1981), “Ice Station Zebra” (1988), “Ice Castles” (1979), and ultimately “The Ice Follies of 1939” (1939), not to be confused with “The ICE Follies of 2026”... Righties, rev your outrage engines. Radar Online reports that Super Bowl halftime headliner Bad Bunny will perform in a dress to honor “queer icons.” Hamilton Porter, a writer for the conservative Not The Bee has already snarked, “I thought it was the National Football League, not the National Gay-To-The-Max League.” My prediction: Trump plays up the Bad Bunny controversy to distract the country from the violent Minneapolis occupation and his crumbling poll numbers...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Do Protestors Get Paid Vacations and Family Leave?
