TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Phrase of the Day: Unconditional surrender.  A mere week into Trump’s war with Iran this winter, the portly POTUS demanded the country’s “unconditional surrender,” as this March 6 Reuters article notes.  If you read any of the stories being published over the last 24 hours about the weak terms of Trump’s Memo of Understanding with Iran (like this analysis by David Sanger of the NY Times) you’ll see the folly and failure of Trump’s original bluster...California needs a pro-business governor. So argues Steve Hilton in a Wall Street Journal op-ed. Hilton happens to be running as a Republican candidate for governor of the Golden State.  The Fox News contributor identifies several reasons for California’s hostile business climate including “crushing taxes, regulatory bloat, excessive union power, climate extremism and out-of-control litigation”...Bummer. Looks like the NY Knicks have accepted President Trump’s invitation to visit the White House in celebration of their thrilling NBA championship run. It marks the first time that a NBA championship team has visited a Trump-occupied White House according to USA Today.  Some Knick players like Josh Hart are vocal anti-Trumpers. Other prominent anti-Trump basketball stars since 2017 include Steph Curry and LeBron James. All eyes will be on finals MVP Jalen Brunson to see if he decides to attend....Thursday Watch: Today at noon EDT marks the grand opening ceremony of the Obama Presidential Center.  It will be a live streamed event which you can watch here. Cool factor: the Center has a basketball court...Generous: Right-wing comedian Rob Schneider has offered to pay the fines for any Major League Baseball player penalized for writing Bible verses over their Pride Night hats. NewsBusters has the details...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

The morons and the moron-wranglers are very, very upset about Elon Musk becoming a trillionaire. In their ideology, success is self-evidently bad. He’s very successful, so therefore, he’s very bad

When the Dutch East India Company offered shares to the public in 1602, it did something revolutionary: It invited ordinary citizens to co-own a great enterprise, share its risks, and share its rewards.

Situation Room Leaks Are Classic Journalism Anti-Americanism

Trump should declare that the guilty should be hung until not quite dead, their innards swirled around, drawn, quartered, beheaded and the head mounted on a pike in front of the Capitol Building.

The UFC Fights Were Downright Awesome

source: Daily Caller

By Avery Long: I didn’t see the authoritarian spectacle the press is describing. Instead, I saw tens of thousands of Americans having the time of their lives. The Ultimate Fighting Championship hosted a “one-of-one” mixed martial arts event to celebrate 250 years of being the best damn country this world has ever seen.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Kristi Noem has a new gig: The disgraced ex-Homeland Security boss is “special advisor” – whatever that means – to NovaRed Mining, a Canadian company involved in gold and copper excavation projects, according to The Hill.  Not sure what expertise Noem, a.k.a ICE Barbie, brings to the job other than as former MAGA insider and Trump administration cast member....Dept. of Sticks & Stones.  In an early morning Truth Social post, Donald Trump dubbed Sen. Jon Ossoff (D-GA), who has been bandied about as a potential candidate for a 2028 White House run,  as Os(jerk@)off.  What 12-year-old boy gave Trump that line?....Is this news? The Washington Free Beacon reported that state representative James Talarico (D-TX), who is 37 and single, shares a checking account with his mother.  Attacking Talarico’s masculinity has been a frequent right-wing talking point, employed to damage his run for the Senate. The Hill thinks that slime strategy might  tarnish Talarico enough to derail his campaign...The Reflecting Pool Blues:  So much for Trump’s much hyped efforts to spiff up iconic landmarks in the nation’s capital. The Lincoln Memorial Reflecting Pool, which was overhauled this spring by Trump in a  highly publicized initiative, just turned green from algae this week.  It’s now a sea of green after costing a pile of green bucks – reportedly north of $13 million. Trump must be turning red in anger over the humiliation of articles like this one in Politico....Try again! The Dems’ Patriotism Gap

It’s not all about Trump. Democrats were less proud of the country than Republicans were even when Obama and Biden were president.

To Dems, Pro Fighting Is Worse Than Transgenders Flashing Breasts on White House Lawn

source: SteveGruber.com

The left complained about Trump’s UFC-themed celebration, calling it crude and somehow beneath the dignity of the presidency. That’s an interesting standard coming from the same people who had no outrage when the Biden White House hosted a 2023 Pride event that included tight dresses on trans women (men) where they were shaking their booties on camera

The Violent Delights of UFC Freedom 250

source: Washington Examiner

There’s a bright side here for those of us who think there’s been entirely too much grandeur and majesty around the American presidency. Say what you will about Trump, but he’s handling that problem.
