TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! The Longest Day: This Sunday marks the summer solstice.  That means northern hemisphere inhabitants enjoy the most daylight of any day in the calendar year. It also means that from now until late December, the daylight hours become incrementally shorter...MOU Moaning from the Right: FrontPage didn’t mince words attacking Trump’s Memo of Understanding with Iran designed to halt hostilities between the two countries.  “There’s no other way to view this except that Iran shook down our government into dropping sanctions and pretty much everything else by closing the strait,” wrote FrontPage investigative journalist Daniel Greenfield. “It’s an unquestionable defeat. Tactically speaking that already makes it worse than the Obama deal.” Worth noting: American Thinker also hammered Trump’s deal with Iran...Worst right-wing headline of the week, courtesy of the Daily Caller: “JD Vance’s Stock Goes Up as Iran War Winds Down.” Wrong on both points!....The Obama Presidential Center had its opening ceremony yesterday. Here is Barack Obama’s classy 34-minute speech. It was a strong reminder of the power of a sane, articulate political leader delivering a message that can inspire and unify....Weekend Watches: In recognition of Father’s Day, I’m recommending these eclectic movies that depict fathers in a positive light: strong, upright, reliable, nurturing.  My choices are: To Kill a Mockingbird (Atticus Finch, the paragon of single dads everywhere), The Godfather (Vito Corleone, when he’s not knocking off rivals), Fiddler on the Roof (Tevye, always stressed out but ultimately dependable, strong and loving in an unpredictable, changing world).  And in a special TV category, the West Wing’s President Jed Bartlet, played to perfection by Martin Sheen. Happy Father’s Day to dads everywhere.  And in case anyone’s wondering, I’m going fishing Sunday....If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Don’t Let the Left Shackle You with Juneteenth Propaganda

source: Townhall

Juneteenth doesn’t belong to one particular group. It belongs to every American. The abolition of slavery began the dismantling of destructive and artificial color barriers. It would take over a century for further attacks on human dignity in the form of “black codes” and Jim Crow laws to be burned on the trash heap of Democratic Party history.

Greetings! Phrase of the Day: Unconditional surrender.  A mere week into Trump’s war with Iran this winter, the portly POTUS demanded the country’s “unconditional surrender,” as this March 6 Reuters article notes.  If you read any of the stories being published over the last 24 hours about the weak terms of Trump’s Memo of Understanding with Iran (like this analysis by David Sanger of the NY Times) you’ll see the folly and failure of Trump’s original bluster...California needs a pro-business governor. Dems Lose If the Iran Accord Succeeds

The agreement is good news for Republican congressional candidates -- and Republicans up and down ballots -- this autumn. It’s awful news for Democrats. Though midterm elections are historically losing ground for a president’s party, the war’s end changes the political dynamics.
