TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! The American Conservative asserts quite forcefully that MAGA is splitting apart over the war with Iran.  Furthermore, writer Andrew Day predicts that “President Trump’s movement might not survive the war”..."Melania" rules: Sorry to break it to haters of the video press release of First Lady Melania Trump that was positioned as a documentary, but “Melania” debuted last week as number one on the Amazon Prime Video movie chart.  Foxnews.com has a particularly fawning recap of the program’s Prime Video performance including some over-the-top praise from viewers... Sounds almost normal: Trump penned a heartfelt Truth Social post earlier this week about the cancer diagnosis of Susie Wiles, his Chief of Staff.  It was one of the most normal posts I’ve ever read from Trump where he expressed human emotions and did not sound like a heartless lunatic. What’s sad about this item is that I consider it noteworthy when the president expresses an appropriate reaction to another person’s distress...Sounds not quite normal: On the other hand, here’s Trump barely intelligible Truth Social rant this morning about the Strait of Hormuz: “I wonder what would happen if we ‘finished off’ what’s left of the Iranian Terror State, and let the Countries that use it, we don’t, be responsible for the so called ‘Strait?’ That would get some of our non-responsive 'Allies' in gear, and fast!!! President DJT”...I’m on a flight tomorrow morning so the newsletter may be delayed. Of course, I’m assuming I make it through the long security lines and my flight has WiFi...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Hasta la vista, baby: Greg Bovino, the face of Trump’s brutal immigration crackdown in Minnesota, is retiring.  In January, the thuggish former head of U.S. Customs and Border Protection was removed from his position after the deaths of two U.S. citizens who were shot and killed by his agents.  He was briefly reassigned to a position as Border Patrol sector chief in California. (NBC News)...Worth noting: If they ever make a movie about Minneapolis 2026, Sean Penn gets my vote to play Bovino...The American Spectator wonders if WWII would have started had FDR bombed Berlin and Tokyo in the 1930s before they ramped up their war machines. The article is obviously trying to justify Trump’s strikes against Iran. Draw your own conclusions...President Cognitive Decline: The perplexing POTUS had some strange Truth Social posts last night.  First, he suggested that Venezuela could become the 51st state in a post about its national baseball team. Then he had another post mystifyingly linking to a January 19 Outkick article about the positive “massive” crowd reaction to his attendance at a college championship football game in Miami. He also endorsed the new podcast “Hangout with Sean Hannity,” but neglected to provide a link thus likely depriving his buddy with thousands of visits....Comedian Chelsea Handler has a major bone to pick with RFK Jr. and wife Cheryl Hines. According to the NY Post, she bought their $6 million house in the tony Brentwood section of LA five years ago, but it’s in such bad shape that she hasn’t even been able to live in it.  Among the problems: a crumbling foundation. Sounds like a metaphor for Kennedy’s Department of Health and Human Services....If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard
