TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! RIP Pope Francis. This headline from The Bulwark nails it: A Pope Who Preached Decency in Indecent Times…A big swing and a miss by Time magazine for its recent 100 most influential people in the world issue. Better to dub it the 99 most influential people in the world after Donald Trump.  Trump is the most influential person on the planet.  No one comes close…Dept. of Sticks & Stones: In the same sentence that Trump wished everyone a happy Easter yesterday, he called Joe Biden “a highly destructive moron.” Here's his vile Truth Social Sunday post…Adios Pete Hegseth? Ex-Pentagon spokesperson and Hegseth loyalist Jon Ullyot predicts the scandal-scarred Secretary of Defense days atop the Pentagon are numbered. “Even strong backers of the secretary like me must admit the last month has been a full-blown meltdown at the Pentagon” Ullyot wrote  in Politico, “and it’s becoming a real problem for the administration.” Ullyot expects  there will be more negative stories about Hegseth coming out this week…Stating the obvious: America Gets Trump Fatigue is the headline on Karl Rove’s latest Wall Street Journal column.  Welcome to the party Karl.  Where have you been the last nine years?...Conservatives looking for right-leaning love should look no further than the Date Right Stuff app. In his latest article for TheRighting, Michael Lovito examines the dating app that’s hoping to give “swipe right” a whole new meaning…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Higher Education Should Learn from Hillsdale

Left-Leaning AP is Out of Step with the Rest of the U.S.

source: NY Post

Trump is the most accessible president in modern times, and probably takes more questions in a month than Biden took in four years. To even suggest otherwise is fake news, which unfortunately describes what the AP and its fellow travelers are peddling these days.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Today marks the 250th anniversary of Paul Revere’s ride warning the colonists of an imminent attack by British troops. To learn more, read this book: The Ride: Paul Revere and the Night That Saved America (great title, BTW)…Apparently, there’s an even dumber idea than tariffs.  So states the sober-minded Wall Street Journal.  Here’s what the WSJ’s editorial board member Joseph Sternberg had to say: “This newspaper’s editorial columns a couple of months ago branded President Trump’s tariffs on Canadian and Mexican imports ‘the dumbest trade war in history.’ Alas, my colleagues and I might have spoken too soon. A much, much dumber one is lurking just around the corner: an export tariff on U.S. Treasurys”…The Victory Girls blog is the latest media outlet to name AOC as the Dem front-runner in 2028.  “The fangirls of both sexes swooning over AOC love her style and care little for substance,” writes Darleen Click. “This is an election we can easily lose. Don’t get cocky”…Joe Biden snuck into Harvard Wednesday and spoke to a class of 50 students at the Harvard Kennedy School in a non-publicized appearance.  All went according to plan until he referred to Ukraine as Iraq.  After the discussion, he tried to enjoy an ice cream bar but “the partially melted dessert fell to the floor.” (Harvard Crimson)…Weekend Watch: After two episodes, I’m hooked on the Apple+ light-hearted drama Your Friends & Neighbors. The always entertaining Jon Hamm stars as a fallen finance big shot who resorts to stealing from his rich neighbors in a tony Manhattan suburb.  Sharp writing and good real estate porn elevate this romp, and make it an enjoyable diversion from the news…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting.
