Greetings! Grilling a Cook: Trump has apparently fired Lisa Cook, the first Black member of the powerful Federal Reserve Board of Governors.  Her sin? It appears that she claimed two separate homes as her primary residences on a mortgage application and thus may have secured better loan terms.  She is expected to address the controversy for which she has not been charged with a crime.  The Wall Street Journal editorial board scoffs at Trump’s action which they say reveals that he wants to put monetary policy under his control. “The country will live to regret it,” they warn.  I also think that Trump has disdain for powerful women of color and feels compelled to dominate them.... Because the right views the recently engaged Taylor Swift as no longer “hot” after dissing Trump in the 2024 election, the Washington Free Beacon has published a list of 15 NFL wives and girlfriends who the editors believe are hotter than the singing sensation.  They include Josh Allen’s wife Hailee Steinfeld, Christian McCaffrey’s wife, and Russell Wilson’s wife... I’ve never eaten at Crackle Barrel.  But all the publicity about the new image led me to review the menu and I’m suddenly craving the hashbrown casserole with smoked sausage, eggs, cheese, fried onion and sawmill gravy.  1100 calories! Suffice to say, there’s no kale or lattes with soy milk on the menu.  Worth noting: Cracker Barrel caved yesterday and is reinstating its previous “Old Timer” logo of an elderly man leaning on a barrel.  Of course, Trump posted on Truth Social a slightly different version of the logo with himself sitting next to a barrel of oil and the words “America First” written in the same Cracker Barrel typeface. Greetings! Best anti-Trump speech in years. Be sure to watch the entirety of Illinois Governor JB Pritzer’s 14-minute “Do Not Come to Chicago” speech that he delivered yesterday. It was in response to alarming reports that Trump is considering sending  federal troops to the Windy City to fight crime and undocumented immigration.  Worth noting: A Washington Times opinion piece by Cal Thomas comes out against Trump sending in troops to Chicago.  The deployment “tackles the symptoms not root causes of urban crime,” argues Thomas...There’s increased chatter about adding Trump’s mug to Mt. Rushmore, which NBC News covered last night.  (Spoiler alert: not possible.) But Jon McNaughton, self-described as America’s foremost conservative artist, is already selling lithographs of his paintings of Trump carved into South Dakota’s most famous landmark starting at $29.95...The National Review votes thumbs down for the U.S. government’s stake in Intel.  “It doesn’t need to take on the difficult and nongovernmental task of turning around a struggling semiconductor company,” according to the editors...Once again, Donald Trump sticks his beak where it doesn’t belong.  Over the weekend in a Truth Social post, Trump demanded that Roger Clemens should be inducted into the Baseball Hall of Fame.  Clemens was suspected of using anabolic steroids. (USA Today)...The podcast “Ruthless” is right-wing media sensation, according to Mediaite, which calls it “a cheerfully mischievous, lib-triggering show that has become a destination for prominent Republicans, including Vice President JD Vance”...
