Truth Social Also Posts Big Year-Over-Year Gains
Year-over-year (YOY) visits to The Free Press soared 44% according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of mobile and desktop traffic based on Similarweb data. Traffic to The Free Press rose more than any right-wing news outlet in September except for the Donald Trump-controlled Truth Social (+51%). Since September 2023, The Free Press’s first full year of operation under its current name, visits swelled 134%, more than any other website TheRighting monitors. Visits to Truth Social rose 93% in that period.
Paramount announced October 6 that it had acquired right-tilting Free Press and installed co-founder Bari Weiss as editor in chief of CBS News.
“While most news websites experienced declines in September visits compared to a year ago when the home stretch of the presidential election drove traffic, The Free Press’s robust increase shows a strong consumer demand for the the content available on the site,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting. “Visits to Truth Social also grew significantly in September driven in part by the public’s thirst for news and opinion regarding the September shooting of Charlie Kirk.”
The New York Times posted a 4% YOY rise in September visits. However, visits to the two other mainstream news outlets TheRighting regularly follows experienced dips: CNN.com (-11%) and the Washington Post (-33%).
