Traffic Tanks Again at Most Right Wing News Websites
January 26, 2024, New York, NY –Traffic to most right wing websites decreased for the fourth straight month, according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of mobile and desktop traffic based on Comscore data for December 2023. Only four right wing news websites posted gains in year-over-year (YOY) unique visitors.
For the first time since TheRighting began tracking traffic to right wing websites for its top 20 chart, only 19 right wing websites are listed. “Traffic was so low for several news outlets, that the audience could not even be measured,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting.
Hannity.com registered its seventh consecutive month of YOY gains in unique visitors. The site of the popular Fox News anchor experienced a YOY increase of 152% in December, more than any other site that TheRighting follows.
“The rise in traffic to Hannity.com began in June 2023, just weeks after Tucker Carlson’s departure from Fox News,” said Polskin. “It suggests that Hannity is benefitting from the absence of the ousted anchor.”
Traffic also declined at the three mainstream news websites that TheRighting tracks on a monthly basis. The Washington Post had the steepest YOY drop (22%), followed by CNN.com (17%) and The New York Times Brand (10%). CNN.com tallied more unique visitors in December than any news website TheRighting follows with 105,169,000 unique visitors, down from 126,433,000 in December 2022.
