Three Top Conservative Websites Register July Audience Gains
Parler Experiences Massive Drop in Traffic for Second Straight Month
August 25, 2021, New York, NY – Despite an overall decrease in traffic to most news websites, three right-wing conservative outlets posted increases in year-over-year (YOY) unique visitors, according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of July 2021 mobile and desktop traffic based on Comscore data. American Greatness, Newsmax and The Epoch Times all grew their YOY audience in July, bucking a downward audience trend that has impacted both conservative and mainstream news sources.
YOY traffic to DonaldJTrump.com, the website of the former president, collapsed 96% from 21,481,000 in July 2020 to 840,000 in July 2021. Since TheRighting began tracking traffic to the Trump website, unique visitors have declined 99% (April 2021), 72% (May 2021), 92% (June 2021). A year ago, the Trump website would have ranked as the second most trafficked conservative news website. Although DonaldJTrump.com is not technically a news website, if it was included in TheRighting’s July top 20 chart, its ranking would have dropped to #19.
Foxnews.com remained the highest-ranked conservative website in TheRighting’s survey with 84,148,000 unique visitors in July 2021, although it recorded its eighth straight month of audience declines (-24%). “The lower traffic numbers were not surprising considering July 2021’s relatively stable news environment,” said Howard Polskin, President and Curator, TheRighting. “The spread of the Delta variant, the controversy about Simone Biles and Hunter Biden’s art sale didn’t create the same level of interest among news consumers compared with the events of a year ago.”
