TheBlaze Records 13th Straight Month of Gains in Unique Visitors;
Traffic to Major Mainstream Media Sites Sags in November Despite Impeachment Hearings
January 2, 2020, New York, NY – TheBlaze posted a 41% increase in year-over-year (YOY) unique visitors, making it the 13th consecutive month of audience gains, according to an exclusive analysis of November traffic to conservative websites by TheRighting based on Comscore data. Altogether, there were 7,651,000 unique visitors to TheBlaze in November 2019, compared to 5,411,00 in November 2018.
YOY unique visitors to the Washington Examiner rose 42% in November 2019, making it the 11th straight month of traffic increases. The Examiner remained the second most-trafficked conservative website according to TheRighting’s analysis, trailing only perennial leader Foxnews.com. TheBlaze ranked third for the month.
Foxnews.com posted a seven percent rise in unique visitors YOY with 94,913,000 unique visitors for November 2019, compared to 88,947,000 for November 2018. The right-leaning website has generated YOY increases in unique visitors 10 out of 11 months this year.
The three US mainstream media websites TheRighting tracks each month all experienced YOY declines in unique visitors in November: CNN (-5%), The Washington Post (-12%), and The New York Times (-16%).
“It’s surprising to see the declines in the major mainstream media websites when there was so much significant news generated from the impeachment hearings in November,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting. “However, the two leading conservative websites – Foxnews.com and the Washington Examiner – seemed to benefit from the hearings. Their audiences did not appear to experience any impeachment fatigue as evidenced by their strong YOY gains in unique visitors.”
