Jan. Traffic to Conservative Websites Craters
February 25, 2022, New York, NY – Year-over-year (YOY) traffic to right-wing websites dropped sharply in January, according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of January 2022 mobile and desktop traffic based on Comscore data. Not one conservative website in TheRighting’s top 20 chart posted an audience increase.
“The poor January performance of almost every conservative website is not surprising,” said Howard Polskin, President and Curator, TheRighting. “Last month’s relatively staid news environment doesn’t remotely compare to January 2021, when coverage of the Capitol riots dominated news and analysis for several weeks. The insurrection was one of America’s most consequential news events this century.”
Foxnews.com remained the most popular conservative website with more than 79 million unique visitors in January. However, traffic dropped 16%, making it *14 consecutive months with declining YOY audience.
Unique visitors to DonaldJTrump.com, the website of the former president, continued to slide. It skidded 54% from January 2021 when it drew 1,904,000 unique visitors compared to 877,000 unique visitors in January 2022. The outlet has never gained audience since TheRighting began tracking it in April 2021.
