January 30, 2019, New York, NY –Fox News attracted 6,931,000 more unique visitors to its website in December 2018 compared to December 2017making it once again the largest conservative website according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of Comscore data.  Altogether, Fox News garnered 90,302,000 unique visitors in December 2018, which represents an 8% increase compared to December 2017 when Fox New attracted 83,371,000 uniques.

While CNN.com remains one of the top US news websites with 110,485,000 unique visitors in December 2018, unique visitors to FoxNews.com still exceeded those of the US news websites of The New York Times brand (87,210,000) and WashingtonPost.com (84,385,000).

For the fourth consecutive month since TheRighting has been tracking unique visitors to conservative websites using Comscore data, Breitbart recorded another month of steep losses. Traffic to the still-popular site dropped 27% in December 2018 compared to December 2017.  However, it still draws the second highest number of unique visitors among right-wing websites.

“Traffic to news websites across the political spectrum was relatively soft in December 2018 compared to year-ago numbers,” said Howard Polskin, President of TheRighting.  “The stories that dominated the news cycle last month – the government shutdown, the economic malaise and the Mattis resignation – just didn’t appear to spark widespread reader interest.”

The top five right-wing websites in December based on the total number of unique visitors are as follows:

1.     Foxnews.com (90,302,000)

2.     Breitbart (7,167,000)

3.     The Washington Examiner (7,160,000)

4.     The Daily Caller (5,912,000)

5.     The Western Journal (5,901,000)

Each month, TheRighting examines Comscore data on dozens of prominent conservative websites that post original content.  TheRighting ranks the top 20 conservative websites on the basis of unique visitors and also provides data on whether unique visitors have increased or decreased year over year.  That information is posted on the Metrics section of TheRighting’s website.  (December 2018 data available here.)

TheRighting also publishes an A-Z Guide to Right-Wing Media  on its website and updates it regularly.  The guide features descriptions about prominent right-wing media websites.
