Matt Walsh Program Ranks as Right Wing Media’s Fastest-Growing Podcast in Q3

October 11, 2023, New York, NY – “The Matt Walsh Show” became right wing media’s fastest growing podcast in the third quarter based on TheRighting’s analysis of year-over-year (YOY) data from the podcast app Castbox. The daily show had 52,133 subscribers at the conclusion of 2023’s third quarter compared to almost 24,972 on September 30, 2022.  That represented a YOY gain of 108%, the largest quarterly percentage increase of any podcast since TheRighting began monitoring right wing podcasts in 2021.

“The Matt Walsh Show” also added more than 27,000 new subscribers in the third quarter, which ranked second only to “The Ben Shapiro Show.”  The number of subscribers to Shapiro’s podcast ballooned to 562,864 cementing its position as the most popular right wing podcast.

“Matt Walsh has built a large podcast audience based in part on his transphobic world view,” said Howard Polskin, President, TheRighting.  “The speed in which his subscriber base is growing demonstrates that his polarizing messages are resonating with listeners. There is clearly an audience receptive to what he’s saying.”

This report is based on data that is updated daily from the podcast app Castbox, which is the fifth most popular app on the podcast-hosting platform Buzzsprout.  Castbox represents 2.0% of all podcasts that Buzzsprout serves. No other leading podcast app besides Castbox makes its data available. TheRighting’s top 20 chart only lists programs that have had new podcasts available on the Castbox platform since January 1, 2023.
