Greetings! Donald Trump’s website features the iconic image of him standing bloodied but defiant, with his fist pumped under the backdrop of the American flag.  The disturbing headline reads: “Fear not.  I am Donald J. Trump. FEAR NOT!  I will always love you for supporting me.  Unity. Peace. MAGA.”   This morning on the home page, there were no other navigation bars to take visitors deeper into the site, with copy well below the image soliciting funds for Trump’s White House run…The attempted assassination inspired parodies on the right wing The Babylon Bee.  Two satiric stories standout: Trump indicted today for inciting assassination attempt and Clumsy Trump hit head on bullet…I turned on MSNBC’s “Morning Joe” at 6:15 today expecting pointed Washington insider takes on the news that’s still shaking the world.  To my dismay, the lively yakfest was preempted for live news coverage.  NewsBusters wonders if network honchos were worried about “unseemly outbursts'' on the show and cited the reporting of CNN’s Oliver Darcy…Dept. of Bad Timing: Former Ex-Trump official Peter Navarro’s new book hits retail shelves tomorrow and likely guarantees no one will pay attention in the aftermath of the assassination attempt.  The tome, by Navarro, who was convicted for contempt of Congress, is called The New MAGA Deal – a yawn-inducing title that will excite no one except a dozen people on the buffet line at Mar-a-Lago.  The book is positioned as “the unofficial deplorables  guide to Donald Trump’s 2024 policy platform”…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. They have his blood on their hands.

After falling to the ground and being tended to by his Secret Service detail, Trump walked off stage, his face bloodied, struggling out of his security circle to yell “fight … fight … fight!” as he pumped his arm. Fewer than one man in a hundred million would respond to being shot in this manner. The image will be the icon of Trump and our political time.

Greetings! There’s a conspiracy to replace President Biden, despite what the NY Times says, according to the Washington Examiner…Low blow? The Washington Free Beacon has put together a five-minute highlights reel of what it calls “lowlights” from Biden’s NATO press conference last night.  At the 26-second mark, which is surely the worst gaffe of the evening, Trump refers to “Vice President Trump”...My two cents: While Biden wasn’t perfect last night, he turned in a decent performance.  But I can’t imagine him not having a major public speaking failure in the next four months, much less the next four years…NewsBusters points out that mainstream media pushed for the 25th Amendment to be used to remove President Trump more than 600 times… Dept. of Surprise: Newt Gingrich argues for Biden to remain on the ticket.  His reason: while Democrats will surely lose with Biden, “they will collapse with Kamala Harris as their nominee” (Fox News)…NY Times courtroom reporter Jonah Bromich just announced  on  X that he’s writing a book on Trump’s recently concluded Manhattan trial.  The nonfiction account, which does not yet have a title, will be published in 2025.  Seems like it could also become a three-part streaming series or maybe even a stage play.  Who plays Stormy Daniels? Britney Spears? Elizabeth Shue?…The editorial board of the NY Post has endorsed North Dakota governor Doug Burgum as Trump’s choice for VP….If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard
