TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings!  Today, I was going to publish my favorite Washington Post article of the week that has absolutely nothing to do with politics and showcased the talent and ingenuity of its beleaguered newsroom.  (The Post's restaurant critic surveyed the CIA’s upscale cafeteria.) But that was before yesterday’s announcement by billionaire owner (I’m starting to hate those two words) Jeff Bezos that the Post’s opinion pages will only publish articles in support of free markets and personal liberty, an obvious Trump-friendly pivot to the right. Margaret Sullivan, the news outlet’s former highly regarded media columnist, wrote in The Guardian that the decision essentially muzzles the section and represents a “death knell” for the brand.  Hard to argue with her…Bill Maher for governor of California! So suggests NY Post opinion writer Steven Hayward who wrote, “He is a callback to an older, hardheaded, commonsense social democrat. And Maher wouldn’t be the first comedian propelled into high office at a stroke. There’s another TV comedian people have heard of who ascended into high office recently named Volodymyr Zelensky”…Wanna see what a Trump-run Gaza looks like? Check out this Trump-created AI 30-second video showing the war-torn area decked out with luxury hotels, swimming pools and a three-story gold-plated stature of the American president.  Breitbart has the story with video…Townhall promise its readers that they can help accelerate the demise of mainstream media by getting a VIP Townhall membership, which start at just under $20 for a year.  Here’s the big sales pitch: “Joining Townhall VIP will allow us to continue our mission to fearlessly dismantle the liberal media. Help us strike the heart of this monster”…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

RFK Jr. Can Breathe New Life into HHS

source: Newsmax

RFK Jr. might not be a conventional choice for HHS Secretary. But the status quo has cost lives and money on an unacceptable scale. Kennedy should seize the opportunity to clear the bureaucratic obstacles that have made health care less efficient and more costly than it should be.

The Truth About Melania

She can't win. When she plays the role we've all come to expect of the first lady, she's ridiculed and mocked. When she doesn't, it's some kind of contrived scandal. None of us know her personally, so all of these rumors, assumptions, and speculation need to stop.

Pro-natalist policies are necessary, but not enough: a culture that has come to believe that individual happiness is its highest goal is one that is on its way to extinction.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Some book news to start the day. As CNN’s Reliable Sources newsletter reported today, a major book about Biden’s mental decline is coming May 20 from authors Jake Tapper (CNN) and Alex Thompson (Axios).  Original Sin promises to take a deep dive into the alleged coverup of the mental decline of President Biden whom they describe as an “at times addled old man.” Also: A new book by Sen. Tom Cotton (R-AR) hit retail shelves yesterday.  Seven Things You Can’t Say About China focuses on the grave threat the Asian country poses to the U.S.  I wish he had written “Seven Things You Can’t Say About Russia” and sent an autographed copy to a certain resident at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue…The editorial board of the NY Post advises the Trump administration to dial back the job-slashing triumphalism, in a mild shot across the bow of the DOGE grand poobah.  “Most of the federal workers clock on for the same reasons everyone else does: just to keep a roof over the family’s heads and food on the table, not to ram progressive ideology down our throats,” the editors wrote. “Letting someone go — apart from the most obnoxious of ideologues — is no cause for celebration”…Disgusting: White House press secretary and Trump mouthpiece Karoline Leavitt called Peter Baker, the highly respected chief White House correspondent for the NY Times, a “left-wing stenographer posing as a journalist” in a post on X…The Washington Free Beacon dropped a colorful photographic essay devoted to the bold fashion sense of MSNBC’s just announced weekend anchor Eugene Daniels. With a touch of snark,  the Beacon wonders if the former Politico journalist will face fashion restrictions at MSNBC… If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

It’s Time to Investigate MSNBC for Possible Racism

If Rachel Maddow says MSNBC is racist, it must be treated as the gospel until properly investigated and proven otherwise.

Rachel Maddow Virtue Signals About Joy Reid While Collecting Paycheck

This is what is wrong with rich, white liberals. Instead of focusing on merit and talent, they focus on race. They preach virtue from their multi-million-dollar waterfront homes and pretend to care.

The Press Pool Is an Illegitimate Media Cartel

source: FrontPage

The White House press corps is a small and heavily liberal group. Its legitimacy depended on at least the pretense of fair play. That went by the wayside sometime back along with journalistic objectivity. It’s why the GOP has begun cutting ties with media organizations.

Mr. President, Sir, Our Heads Are Spinning from So Much Winning

America has seen the full implications and consequences of the Obama-Biden-Pelosi-Harris-Ocasio woke agenda. Americans now are briefly ready to think for themselves and disregard the pundits who led them to catastrophe. It’s Miller Time! (Stephen Miller.)

Trump Throws the MSM Hacks into Another Tizzy

The poor dears spent the day acting as if he'd exiled them all to an old leper colony. Very little has changed except the old boys/girls/non-binaries club will have some new members. Members who give the old guard the ick.

Trump Dismantles Legacy Media Monopoly at White House

source: Daily Signal

Karoline Leavitt said that more reporters would have more access to Trump, who is already one of the most accessible world leaders. Yet in the bizarro world of Washington, the elitist White House press corps reacted with scorn, calling the move a threat to the free press.

Trump’s Kennedy Center Takeover Will Make the Arts Sane Again

Showing his contempt for the Constitution, Obama did everything he could to expand the power of government at the expense of individual liberty. He ignored the separation of powers by doing an end run around Congress with his numerous executive orders.

Inside Jimmy Fallon’s “Tonight Show” Trainwreck

source: Hollywood in Toto

Fallon’s “Tonight Show” is mini-Resistance theater. He let Biden off the hook, avoiding the truths about the leader’s cognitive decline. That cowardice mirrored what Colbert and Kimmel did on their shows, but it meant Fallon didn’t pick up viewers who might crave truth in their late-night satire.
