TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! App of the week: Signal.  Quote of the week:  “That’s a lie,” Atlantic editor in chief Jeffrey Goldberg responded when asked to comment on Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth’s assertion that no one was texting war plans…Breaking this morning: The Atlantic has released the full chat on Signal exposing Hegseth’s military plans. (AP)…A NY Post editorial has a rare rebuke to the Trump administration for its handling of the Signalgate fiasco. “You can only play the ‘diminish, deny and delay’ game so many times before it becomes your new brand,” the editors wrote. “We get that stepping up to own failures is hard. But it just got that much harder for Americans to trust the administration on national security issues going forward.” So far on the right, only Rupert Murdoch’s Post and the National Review have criticized the massive security breach…“French” lessons: NY Times columnist David French, a former U.S. Army attorney and self-described evangelical conservative,  urges Pete Hegseth to resign “if he has any honor at all” in a must-read op-ed…Popular podcaster and ex-Fox News anchor Megyn Kelly announced yesterday that she’s creating her own audio  network.  Kelly is launching three shows this spring featuring Mark Halperin (who in 2017 faced allegations of sexual harassment from his stint at ABC News), the Daily Mail’s Maureen Callahan, and  ex-RFK Jr. advisor Link Lauren. My question: is Kelly entering an oversaturated podcast market a year late?...Dept. of Bad News:  The Third Term Project is an organization dedicated to keeping The Donald  in the White House beyond 2028. TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Oopsie! Seems Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth and his fellow security leaders don’t understand the term “top secret.”  On March 15, they had group chats on the messaging app Signal about plans to bomb Yemen.  For reasons not fully understood, Atlantic magazine editor-in-chief Jeffrey Goldberg, was included in the conversation  (Here’s the bombshell article from Goldberg himself.) This represents an extraordinary security breach. Let’s be thankful that Hegseth and his full clown car of cohorts weren’t running the show when President Obama greenlit the clandestine plot to assassinate Osama bin Laden.  Worth noting: the National Review was the only right wing outlet I read today that criticized this epic blunder. “Sometimes a story comes along that is such an authentic, undeniable disgrace that no possible defense of it can be mustered,” wrote Jeffrey Blehar....Speaking of Yemen, here’s an original right wing take on the Yemen strikes from  The American Conservative arguing that the bombing  could ruin Donald Trump’s legacy because they might derail diplomacy with Iran and lead to a destructive war…In a nod to NCAA tournament fever, The Federalist has come up with a list the outlet calls “Leftist March Madness” featuring Dem “lunatics.”  The list includes Judge James Boasberg, Rep. Hakeem Jeffries and “Tampon” Tim Walz…Dept. of Sticks & Stones: In a gag-inducing Truth Social post yesterday, Trump referred to NY Times White House correspondent Maggie Haberman as “Maggot” Haberman. In the same post, he called chief NY Times White House correspondent “Liddle” Peter Baker.  Keeping it classy, Mr. President!…If  you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Lessons from the Signal Chat on the Houthis

It’s amusing to hear journalists who dine out on leaks deplore this leak. But the lasting import won’t be the security breach as much as what Trump officials really think about our European allies.

SecDef Hegseth Torches Anti-Trump Hoax Peddler Jeffrey Goldberg

Let’s be real—Goldberg’s track record is a laundry list of anti-Trump hoaxes. Now, he’s peddling this tale of stumbling into a supposed digital war room, claiming it all started with a Signal connection request from Mike Waltz on March 11.

Greenland’s Prime Minister Is Afraid of Usha Vance

Greenland’s Prime Minister, Múte B. Egede, is apparently in a tizzy over Usha Vance’s upcoming visit, calling it very aggressive American pressure. Greenland’s Vast Mineral Wealth Could Be Unlocked by the U.S.

source: Daily Signal

China already tried to move in on Greenland before. The first Trump administration worked to reverse that trend and China retreated. Greenland’s leaders have insisted they are not interested in a future partnership with China, but how much of a guarantee is that?

Snow Woke and the Seven Dwarfs

source: Unleash Prosperity

We’re economists not movie critics, but one of the subversive themes of the movie is that “who’s the fairest of them all” doesn’t apply to the beauty of the queen, but rather about economic fairness. The queen is evil because she doesn’t share her wealth. It’s an ode to socialism. And the movie remake is a flop – as it should be.
