TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Skunk fight! Elon Musk and Trump tariff architect Peter Navarro are battling publicly and that ain’t good for Trumpworld.  Press secretary Karoline Leavitt tried brushing it off as “boys will be boys.”  I am no fan of Leavitt, but I would never call her stupid. However, this was a stupid phrase that minimizes a serious administration rupture with grave consequences for the global economy and our wallets.  The Wall Street Journal has a much more informed take on the battle of MAGA heavyweights and comes down favoring Elon Musk.  “He isn’t a flunky whom Mr. Trump can consign to oblivion by firing, and he’s saying things the President ought to hear,” the WSJ’s editorial board opines. “He represents the aspirational wing of MAGA-land that is the best part of Trumponomics”…American Spectator and City Journal have joined the growing chorus of conservative media outlets against Trump’s destructive tariff policies.  “Trump’s goal of reciprocal trade is a false promise, based neither on economic laws nor market reality,” wrote Spectator authors Bob Luddy and Michael Romero.  “His arbitrary tariffs are causing an immediate meltdown of the world’s financial markets and a loss of confidence in the American government.” City Journal’s Brian Albrecht points out that tariffs didn’t ignite American economic growth in the 19th century and they won’t today either…And finally, for all the fans of the just-concluded brilliant third season of HBO’s “White Lotus,” a Washington Examiner writer explains that the show has a surprising “conservative heart” because of its emphasis on the value of family. Hadn't considered that point…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

These books should come in a series called the Hypocrisy Dialogues, as the writers are the same people who defended Biden’s mental condition for four years.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! The Dow dropped 349 points yesterday. In bizarro Trumpworld, that’s a good day because it wasn't a four-digit dive. Today, some markets regained some of the tariff terror losses of the last few volatile days. However, gyrating worldwide financial markets are in no one’s interest…Rupert Murdoch’s Wall Street Journal and NY Post keep pounding away at The Donald’s MAGA market mayhem. The editorial board of the Post urges Trump to make a trade deal to end the tariff-driven meltdown. Journal editor-at-large Gerald Baker says Donald Trump is “trashing America’s reputation” and  his reckless tariff policy is damaging “the greatest geopolitical brand ever created.” Strong words from the bible of the business world.  National Review is also firmly in  the anti-Trump-tariff camp, pleading with Congress to end the trade war…Tesla news: Sean Hannity is hawking Teslas on Fox News, as well as his website and radio show. The  primetime Trump acolyte has a sweepstakes with a new Tesla as a grand  prize. It’s not as if Hannity has gone EV green. He claims his cheerleading is all about support for cars manufactured in the good old USA…So much for Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s stock advice. Three weeks ago, when Tesla shares were trading 20% lower than its high, Lutnick urged consumers to buy the auto manufacturer’s stock. “It’s unbelievable that this guy’s stock is so cheap,” the Trump sycophant said on Fox News, according to CNBC. “It’ll never be this cheap again.” Oops. As of close yesterday, Tesla trades  50% lower than it 52-week December 2025 high…If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Howard

Why People Are Missing the Point on Trump’s Tariffs

source: Blaze Media

While the mainstream media fearmonger over the tariffs, Heritage Foundation President Kevin Roberts has faith that Trump’s plan will work. “There will be an economic quarter or two where things are choppy...Trump is trying to do is reset the world economic order,” Roberts said on a recent podcast.

Trump vs the World Is a Global Poker Tournament

source: PJ Media

Trump’s best PR path forward is to do exactly what he just did: On day one, impose painful tariffs on everyone. This way, you frontload the bad news. And then, after a few weeks of economic turmoil, the other countries will (hopefully) come begging to renegotiate.
