TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Latest Trump cabinet member in the hot seat: Sean Duffy, the ex-reality TV star, who seems to be flying blind in his new role as Secretary of Transportation. Frighteningly, the nation's air traffic control system appears dysfunctional (Wall Street Journal: America’s Air Traffic Fiasco) and all eyes are on the unqualified Duffy.  Let’s see if right-wing media defends him in the coming days or maybe he gets tossed under the bus by Trump…Dept. of Strange Bedfellows: Far-right podcaster Candace Owens, who has been accused of being an antisemite, has come to the defense of convicted sex offender and former major Democratic supporter Harvey Weinstein.  In Harvey Speaks. a three-part podcast series, Owens maintains the fallen film titan was falsely accused by a corrupt judicial system.  The Free Press has all the convoluted reasoning…Former Tinseltown mogul Bill Mechanic has a powerful op-ed in Deadline blasting Donald Trump’s half-baked tariff plan on so-called foreign-produced films. He writes, “Like so many other harebrained ideas coming out of Washington these days, this one seems spewed out rather than thought through, and it presents a solution that doesn’t solve anything but aims to create headlines and noise as opposed to making things better. It is all part of Trump’s revenge tour. He’s out to destroy anyone or anything that has not bowed at his altar”…Speaking of hare-brained: Conservative thought-leader Rich Lowry opines in the NY Post that making  Alcatraz a deportation holding facility is a terrible idea.  Lowry cites many flaws in the Trump-hatched plan, noting that the notorious island in San Francisco Bay has been a tourist destination longer than it was a prison (it closed when JFK was in the White House)….If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Diversity Is Not Our Strength

source: Washington Examiner

That “diversity is our strength” is one of those obvious contradictions that people with common sense instantly recognize as hooey. It is poisonous hooey, mind you. As the British historian Arnold Toynbee said, “Civilizations die from suicide, not by murder.”

Media Ignore Record Stock Rebound

source: Unleash Prosperity

Last week we noted that the media hyperventilated over the stock market losses through the first three weeks of April, even blurting that this was the worst month since the Great Depression. But the naysayers have ignored the big market comeback of the last few weeks.

Hegseth Calls for Dumping 20% of Four-Star Generals

source: FrontPage

The United States military, like every institution, has become top heavy with useless people. We have a lot of Chiefs, not as many Indians, and the Chiefs don’t do very much except push their agendas and plan their future careers as defense industry lobbyists or consultants for foreign companies.

John Wayne’s Epic “Freedom Train” Could Save America’s 250th Birthday

source: Blaze Media

Many older Americans will recall the red, white, and blue American Freedom Train that was a centerpiece of America’s bicentennial celebration in 1976. But few know that the Freedom Train — pulled by a steam locomotive and filled with American historical artifacts — was the brainchild of none other than John Wayne.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Has Bill Belichick done the impossible and replaced Secretary of Defense Pete Hegseth as the most-mocked person in America? The ornery 73-year-old NFL coaching legend’s book (The Art of Winning) drops tomorrow and all  anyone wants to talk about is his 24-year-old girlfriend. In this weekend’s “Saturday Night Live” open,” Belichik was targeted in a skit featuring James Austin Johnson portraying Donald Trump signing an executive order making it socially acceptable for a man in his 70s to date a 24-year-old. (See YouTube video at the 2:15 mark)…Over the weekend, Trump wrote a Truth Social post calling for 100% tariffs on all movies produced outside the U.S. (Deadline). The Donald said that films made in foreign lands are a “security threat.” Does that mean the “Peaky Blinders” movie, starring Oscar-award-winning Cillian Murphy, which just wrapped in the U.K., is putting our nation at peril? Will “Dune Messiah,” where production begins this September in Hungary, get a tariff pass because Trump is best buds with the country’s autocrat-in-chief Viktor Orbán?…The National Review slams Trump over his tariff policies likely to result in a dearth of affordable toys and dolls made in China. “Donald Trump must be the first president in history to say that his policies will deprive American children of toys,” wrote editor Rich Lowry…Popular right-wing podcaster Matt Walsh wonders why all Washington warmongers are “secretly gay.” (WND)…Prolific conservative commentator and thought-leader Dennis Prager suffered a near-fatal fall in November and is paralyzed from the neck down (PJ Media)…If  you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Trump Refuses to Kick the Can Down the Road Like Past Presidents

Rather than kicking the can of unfair trading practices down the road, his tit-for-tat tariff strategy, causing an emotionally driven yet temporary economic downturn, has supercharged a wave of left-wing criticism.
