Greetings! It’s Gay Pride Month in four days and I’ve been predicting a huge right-wing media backlash to the celebration.  The latest example: Newsmax offers an alarming op-ed by Tony Perkins, head of the conservative Family Research Council, that celebrates what Perkins perceives to be a faltering of Pride activism.  “While the destruction of the movement may not be imminent, we are seeing encouraging signs that through continued prayer, education, and activism, we can bring about the collapse of an ideology that seeks to normalize the abnormal — and shame what is good, right, and true,” writes Perkins....Donald Trump, book critic.  POTUS has dropped a full-throated endorsement of Fox News contributor Joe Concha’s latest book The Greatest Comeback Ever: Inside Trump’s Big Beautiful Campaign. Writing on a Truth Social post on Monday, Trump gushed that Concha “has written an incredible new book.” I’m hearing rumors that Trump may be reviewing Salman Rushdie’s new novel for The New York Review of Books....Armond White, the culture critic for the National Review, called Bruce Springsteen a “quisling” (traitor) for criticizing Trump during a May 14 concert in Manchester, England.  Here’s White’s article....Speaking of rock legends, Bob Dylan turned 84 over the weekend.  This line from his classic 1964 song Subterranean Homesick Blues seems more relevant now than ever: “You don’t need a weatherman to know which way the wind blows”...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Greetings! Trump dropped a vile Memorial Day grievance bomb yesterday. If you can stomach it, look at the first 109-word, all-caps run-on sentence of his ugly screed that he posted on Truth Social: “Happy Memorial Day to all including the scum that spent the last four years trying to destroy our country through warped radical left minds, who allowed 21,000,000 million (sic) to illegally enter our country, many of them being criminals and the mentally insane, through an open border that only an incompetent president would approve, and through judges who are on a mission to keep murderers, drug dealers, rapists, gang members, and released prisoners from all over the world, in our country so they can rob, murder and rape again – all protected by these USA hating judges who suffer from an ideology that is sick, and very dangerous for our country.” What a demented, hate-filled rant delivered on a day meant to remember the nation’s soldiers who gave their lives for our country. Please note that instead of writing “21 million” he wrote “21,000,000 million”...The editorial boards of two Rupert Murdoch-owned publications published pieces criticizing President Trump over the holiday weekend. The NY Post scolded Trump for his erratic tariff policies.  In a chastising editorial the editors wrote, “It’s one thing for your enemies to find you unpredictable, another for your friends to worry that you’re acting on pure whim.” The Wall Street Journal gave a big thumbs down to the Mad King’s attempt to bar foreign students from attending Harvard.  “This will be terribly damaging to America’s ability to attract talented young people who bring their enterprise and intellectual capital to the U.S.,” the WSJ opined. “Non-citizens accounted for more than half of doctoral degrees in AI-related fields in 2022”...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting.
