TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! And welcome to November.  I hate to be curmudgeonly (or un-American), but don’t expect me to eat anything pumpkin-flavored this month. Not a fan of the taste or texture..Guess who’s not coming to dinner? In a Truth Social post, Trump not only congratulated the LA Dodgers for beating the Toronto Blue Jays to win the World Series Saturday night,  he essentially invited the team to the White House.  “See you all at the White House!!!” he wrote in all caps and triple exclamation points.  Several LA players would seem like questionable attendees based on past statements.  They include outfielder Kiké Hernández who expressed dismay on social media about Trump’s immigration policies and shortstop Mookie Betts who declined to visit the Trump White House with his team (Boston Red Sox) after they won the championship in 2018....Trump went toe-to-toe with CBS correspondent Norah O’Donnell on “60 Minutes” last night. Typical Trump bluster although he held his own especially in the second part. O’Donnell didn’t pull her punches. I call it a draw. Here’s the 28-minute interview. Worth noting: Trump’s hair seemed tinted gray.  Is this to suggest that with age comes wisdom?...Offensive Halloween promo: The marketing team at the Daily Caller must have thought they were being clever when they came up this divisive subject line for an email promoting a price reduction in their Halloween-themed t-shirts. “Scare a liberal. Save 25% on all merch.” Here’s the link to the ecommerce page if $35 t-shirts are your thing... Not that I’d ever vote for her: Marjorie Taylor Greene was a guest on HBO’s “Real Time with Bill Maher” Friday night and she actually made some good points...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Trump Is Right to Restart Nuclear Weapons Tests

source: Washington Examiner

Russia denies it is engaged in testing. But to trust the Kremlin to keep to its nuclear weapons treaty obligations is willful idiocy.

The Moral Rot Eating the American Right

Killing Drug Dealers in International Waters Is Actually Legal

Arctic Frost Accountability Starts with Impeaching Judge Boasberg

source: Daily Caller

Watching a federal judge Boasberg flagrantly ignore the U.S. Constitution to advance an unprecedented dragnet by an out-of-control Executive Branch under the leadership of Biden, Merrick Garland, and Christopher Wray against a U.S. senator lays bare who the true threats to our democracy are in this ongoing national nightmare.

Protecting Christians with “Guns-a-Blazing” in Nigeria

source: Victory Girls

You will barely read about the slaughter of Christians in Nigeria. It happens a lot there. But, we don’t want to upset the Muslims so we don’t talk about it. Until Donald Trump was re-elected.

TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Required reading: Excellent NY Times editorial asks if our democracy has been lost. (Spoiler alert: not yet, but we’re on the precipice.) What elevates this op-ed is that it outlines a dozen markers that spotlight what the nation has already lost and how much more is still at risk...Donald Trump stoked fears this week when he revealed the United States would resume nuclear tests for the first time since 1992. The likely testing region would be the Nevada Security Site, a huge chunk of federal land larger than Rhode Island, per NPR. The Wall Street Journal and the National Review both support the nuke tests...Dept. of Bad Taste: The official White House website has some new edits with a nasty right-wing slant.  Under the “Major Events Timeline,” some questionable additions have been made.  These include 1998’s Bill Clinton/Monica Lewinsky scandal, 2012’s Muslim Brotherhood visit and the  discovery of cocaine in the Biden White House in 2023...Ben & Jerry’s co-founder Ben Cohen is creating a Palestine-themed sorbet in the name of Mideast peace. Will the Civil War Start in California, Chicago or NY?

Politicians like Gov. Newsom and Gov. Pritzker are playing a double game, letting their radical base think that they’re escalating, while carefully avoiding a direct confrontation, but plenty of politicians on both sides were also playing that game before the Civil War.

NYC, You’ve Been Warned About Mamdani

source: Wall Street Journal

He is barely 34, has never had a real job, was elected five years ago to the state assembly, which is a badge you wear while you scrounge around for attention and connections.
