“The Megyn Kelly Show” Ranks as Fastest-Growing Q4 Conservative Podcast on Castbox Platform
“The Morning Wire” Also Generates Strong Subscriber Growth
January 10, 2022, New York, NY – “The Megyn Kelly Show,” a daily podcast featuring the former Fox News and NBC News anchor Megyn Kelly, was the fastest growing right-wing podcast in the fourth quarter, according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of Castbox data. The podcast ended the quarter with 28,414 subscribers on the Castbox platform, compared with 19,217 subscribers at the conclusion of the third quarter. That represented a 48% increase in subscribers for the quarter, more than any other program from a conservative podcaster in the TheRighting’s exclusive top 20 rankings. “The Megyn Kelly Show” ranked #14 in TheRighting’s quarterly top 20 chart measuring subscribers to right-wing podcasts.
The Daily Wire’s “The Morning Show,” a 14-minute daily news update with a conservative slant, posted a 29% rise in fourth quarter subscribers. It ranked #16 for the quarter. The podcast, which is positioned as a right-wing alternative to programs like the popular “The Daily” from the New York Times, debuted last July.
“The Ben Shapiro Show” remained firmly entrenched as the most popular conservative podcast on the Castbox platform with 452,022 subscribers as of December 31, more than four times greater than the second-ranked right-wing podcast. The program generated 14,736 new subscribers in the quarter, more than any other conservative podcast, based on a 3% subscriber growth.
Other podcasts that experienced strong subscriber growth in Q4 but didn’t crack TheRighting’s top 20 include ”The Stew Peters Show” (+44%), “Fearless with Jason Whitlock (+29%) and “Bannon’s War Room” (+13%).
“The data from Castbox provides a critical window into the size of the news podcast audience, despite the relatively small portion of the overall podcast listener base it represents,” said Howard Polskin, President and Founder, TheRighting. “Megyn Kelly’s strong Castbox numbers show that the September launch of her program on SiriusXM’s Triumph Channel was the rocket fuel that propelled her podcast growth this quarter.”
