Breitbart Slump Deepens as Traffic Plunges for 6th Consecutive Month 

March 27, 2019, New York, NY – Breitbart registered its sixth consecutive month of losses in year-over-year unique visitors, according to TheRighting’s exclusive analysis of traffic to conservative websites using Comscore data.  For the month of February, Breitbart attracted 5,245,000 unique visitors, a sharp drop  of 33% compared to February 2018 when it drew 7,782,000 unique visitors.  Altogether, Breitbart lost 2.5 million unique visitors in February 2019 vs 2018. 

 Six other conservative websites drew more uniques than Breitbart:  Fox News, The Washington Examiner, National Review, The Washington Times and The Western Journal.  Breitbart usually ranks a strong number two behind perennial conservative powerhouse Fox News.

 Year-over-year uniques to Foxnews.com jumped 18%, its fourth consecutive month of traffic gains.  Fox News had 101,896,000 uniques in February, up 15 million from a  year ago.  Furthermore, it put Foxnews.com just 11.7 million uniques behind CNN.com for February 2019.  In February 2018, CNN.com’s traffic exceeded Fox News by 35 million uniques. 

 CNN.com and the other two prominent mainstream media sites TheRighting follows each month had relatively soft results for year-over-year unique visitors February 2019 vs. February 2018:  CNN.com (-7%), The New York Times brand (+3%) and Washingtonpost.com (-2%). 

 The top five right-wing websites in February based on the total number of unique visitors are as follows:

1.     Foxnews.com (101,896,000)

2.     TheBlaze (9,078,000)

3.     The Washington Examiner (8,383,000)

4.     National Review (6,555,000)

5.     Washington Times (6,284,000)

CNN.com continued its reign as one of the top US news websites with 123,475,000 unique visitors in January.  However, unique visitors to Foxnews.com still surpassed those of the US news websites of The New York Times brand (94,106,000) and WashingtonPost.com (86,590,000).
