That Emma Lazarus poem has been taught as U.S. immigration policy: “Give me your tired, give me your thirsty, give me your hungry, give me your poor, give me your transgendered,” throw that in there. Give me everybody who’s a victim of the evil in the world and the United States will take them. That’s not immigration policy.
