TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Must See TV Tonight: Donald Trump’s State of the Union address. Does the MAGA-in-Chief make a case for war with Iran? Does he dress down the Supreme Court and extoll the virtues of his terrifying tariffs?  Will we get the usual rant at his political enemies and threats of retribution? Whatever Trump has to say, it won’t be pretty. Worth noting: The Daily Signal spotlights seven times Democrats “had a meltdown” over previous Trump SOTU speeches. Windbag Alert: Yesterday, Trump promised reporters that it will be a long speech (Yahoo News). Trump’s average SOTU speech is 80 minutes, more than any other president since LBJ. President Clinton holds the record for the longest SOTU address: 88 minutes on January 27, 2000 (American Presidency Project)....Dept. of Surprises: The Washington Times calls Trump the “insulter in chief.” Opines the conservative outlet’s Cal Thomas: “Each time one thinks President Trump has reached the lowest level possible in insulting his enemies, he finds new depths to plunge.” While I agree with that assessment, that column could have been written eight years ago...That didn’t last long: Longevity expert Dr. Peter Attia, who CBS News signed as a commentator on January 27, announced yesterday that he was resigning in the wake of recent revelations about his friendship with pedophile Jeffrey Epstein.  Attia’s name was mentioned 1,700 times in the Epstein files, according to various reports. The YouTube wellness influencer was among 19 contributors hired last month by rookie right-leaning CBS News boss Bari Weiss, as the latest of many talent disasters she’s created since taking the helm last October...Book Beat: Gavin Newsom’s buzzy memoir, Young Man in a Hurry, drops today...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. TOP OF THE DAY by Howard Polskin

Greetings! Kash Patel is on thin ice after celebrating in Italy yesterday with the U.S. Olympic hockey team after their gold medal win over Canada. The lens-loving FBI Director was seen guzzling champagne with the team post-victory triggering questions about why he was there and who paid for the trip. (Perhaps he’s distancing himself from the stalled Nancy Guthrie disappearance investigation???) Mediaite charged him with behaving more like a social media influencer than the head of the FBI. A mock headline in The Borowitz Report hilariously “reported” that he was rushed to a hospital after “the trauma of flying coach”...Looks like I’m not the only semi-fan of the “CBS Evening News” with Tony Dokoupil. Writing on his blog, former Time magazine senior editor and media maven Richard Zoglin, opines that the show is “quite watchable.” Not a rave, still not the MSM consensus slam of a suspected MAGA mouthpiece. In addition, Zoglin suggests audiences, as well as his media critic brethren, shouldn't shun the big three networks’ evening newscasts. “(T)hey are a rare island of calm in a chaotic, agenda-driven news environment.” I’m with Zoglin on this one too....The Wall Street Journal opinion editors once again slammed Donald Trump. Late Friday, they blasted the MAGA-in-Chief’s  juvenile rant aimed at the Supreme Court justices who overturned his wacky tariff policies. Not only did the WSJ say he owed Justices an apology, but the editors wrote that “it was arguably the worst moment of his Presidency.” So many “worst” moments, so little time to digest them all. Worth noting: Trump is so angry with the Supreme Court that he’s only going to refer to the country’s top judicial institution in lower case letters, according to this childish Truth Social post...If you keep reading, I’ll keep Righting. Olympic Hockey Star Jack Hughes for President

His unabashed patriotism was as inspiring as his winning overtime goal for the Olympic hockey gold medal.

Perseverance of Jack Hughes and Teammates Showcased American Dream

source: American Spectator

The perseverance of Hughes and his teammates, in many ways overmatched by a more talented Canadian team, showcased the American Dream, i.e., that hard work pays off in the end.

Jack Hughes and the New Miracle on Ice

As in 1980, it was a bigger win than just on ice. The miracle isn’t just a hockey game outcome but a country that renews itself with new generations of competitors who are not ashamed of America but are proud.

American Patriotism Shines on the Olympic Stage

From figure skating to hockey to skiing, it has been a good few days for American patriotism on the global sports stage at the 2026 Winter Olympics.

Team USA Won Gold and the Media Can’t Stand It

source: RedState

It was the first U.S. men’s Olympic gold in 46 years. And almost immediately, parts of the media went looking for a way to undercut it. Newsweek did not frame the story as a historic American victory. It framed it as controversy. Its emphasis was not discipline, sacrifice, or a generational goalie performance. It was “rigged.”

These Olympians Didn’t Just Win Gold, They Saved Our Sanity

source: NY Post

Let’s hear it for the girls! Them ladies in the red, white and blue — and their Olympic derring-do. This week, our American women shone brightly on the global stage, showcasing our nation’s exceptional spirit, grit and perseverance at the Milano Cortina Winter Games.

The Left Is Mad at Kash Patel for Celebrating the Gold Medal Win with U.S. Hockey Team

source: PJ Media

Based on all of the astroturfed X posts against Patel, and there are hundreds from other leftists just like them, you’d think Patel just ran up the federal deficit, but the estimated cost for the trip is $75,000. Since the Democrats can’t be honest about what they’re really big mad about, we will. The left can’t stand it when America wins

FBI Director Kash Patel Got Turnt with the Boys After Team USA Won Gold

One of the things this administration clearly understands is that sports are a key part of a nation’s culture. Whether it's Trump attending Super Bowls or Patel in the locker room with the best hockey team in the world, these politicians care about sports as much as they do anything else.

They Should Play More Hockey on Washington’s Birthday

source: American Thinker

We need a Trump executive order designating Washington's birthday as the day for Team USA to play medal games. Of course, some Obama-appointed judge will write an injunction but Alito and the gang will overturn it.

AOC’s Ignorance Is No Laughing Matter

Ocasio-Cortez’s Munich performance was laughable—but her nostalgia for workerist politics ignores a century of Marxist failure, revisionism, and the authoritarian wreckage that followed.

CNN’s Dana Bash Plays Softball with Gavin Newsom

source: NewsBusters

There was no challenge from Bash, and no follow up to her weak initial question other than her evocation of the hardships suffered by Newsom’s mom. Newsom was allowed to rattle off a set piece that, far from addressing Bash’s question, attempted to gaslight viewers into believing that California’s unaffordability is a good thing due to the Democrat trifecta government’s many interventions.

The Hypocrisy of Jon Meacham

source: National Review

Of all the traits shared by President Donald Trump’s harshest critics, none is more amusing than their inability to see the ways in which they mirror his worst qualities. Take, for example, Jon Meacham, a cable television groupie who aspires to become one of the great historians of our era.

Kennedy Center Ice Rink Vandalized by Protestors

source: Victory Girls

Unfortunately for the vandals, there are cameras that captured the action. Let’s hope arrests are made soon and actual consequences are imposed upon them. Then again, this is Washington D.C. so it’s a fair bet that a judge will just let them waltz out of jail with no bail and potentially not even a court appearance planned.

Texas Fights Back: No “Sharia City” in the Lone Star State

source: WND

In a clear stand for law, sovereignty and the rule of American jurisdiction, Texas Attorney General Ken Paxton announced a formal investigation into a potentially unlawful "sharia city" development in Kaufman County, warning that any attempt to establish a foreign-style enclave on Texas soil will not be tolerated.
